How Stress Controls Hemoglobin Levels in Blood Our ability to breathe oxygen is critical to our survival. This process is mediated by the hemoglobin in our blood, which carries oxygen.
Support my works! https://www.patreon.com/toradh - - - I had participated in a (manga) character design contest this year (https://animania.de/news/manga-deutschland/pimp-my-character-zeichenwettbewerb-fuer-charakterdesign-gestartet/). They still haven’t announced the winners online anywhere, but since the contest is so long over now, I thought I’d finally share the artwork I did for it. It was a shit ton of work, and I put a lot of time and effort into it, especially the comic pages. This isn’t ALL the artwork I did for it, I also made a few sketches and three pages with text to introduce the character, but I don’t think there’s need to share all that.
Leoithne is one of the many characters from my actually-supposed-to-be-a-series-of-novels-someday-fantasy-project, and I chose her for the contest 1) because I figured being manga-fied would suit her, and 2) because she also appears in a webcomic I’m working on with a friend (www.elderend.de).
I’m really happy how her portrait turned out, so here’s a very much cropped introductory page. There’s a dormouse because she likes dormice and because she can shapeshift into one. The images were done on individual pieces of paper and later put together in Photoshop, with some watercolour texture beneath them to look like anything. And also the manga pages I did for the contest. The process of making these was HELL. I sketched the layout in Photoshop, traced the sketches on neat, thin paper with Copic Multiliners and Faber Castell Artists’s Pens, scanned that, added some scanned watercolour textures as if they were screentones, printed the whole thing on watercolour paper, coloured it with inks and watercolour, and then scanned it again to add frame borders and speech bubbles. There were many, very many different approaches between all these stages which I all scrapped because they were horrible. Please do not remind me of them. I really, really like how some things on these pages turned out, though!
