IN PRAISE: FANDOM is now accepting submissions!
A new zine dedicated to the fan experiences and community. We are looking for writing, meta, art, comics and graphics that reflect on what is happening in fanfiction, fan spaces, conventions, communities, and in our personal and public lives.
We are looking for critical looks at fandom, narrative stories or memoirs, and anything that might resonate through multiple fandoms and experiences.
Check out our resources page for examples of critical looks at fandom, read our about page for ideas on what we’re looking for, or send us an ask!
If fanfic is a sign that your characters were successfully transplanted from your head to someone else’s, you’d be nuts to want to undo that. It’s like getting upset with someone for feeling full after eating a delicious meal you spent hours getting just right and laying out for them. If you don’t want your people to live in other peoples’ heads, you shouldn’t set out to put them there.

About
In Praise is a zine dedicated to fandom. It is a critical exploration of fandom spaces and fandom creators, including writers, artists, sculptors, knitters and playlist makers. We want to analyze and carefully consider parts of fandom that are problematic, exciting, fun, beautiful and expressive. This is a zine dedicated to fandom, and we strive to leave no question or story unexamined or unexplored.
Ask a question here, or submit to the zine by emailing [email protected].
In Praise
5/15/2026
In praise of all things past, Of the boulder rolling back down hill, In praise of every ending, and chance at another beginning, Of the endless hurling toward entropy, In praise of shattering, Of good hearts, of kind words, of service, In praise of a lifetime of tribulation, Of "i should be so lucky," "it's rotten work," "one must imagine," In praise of our Muses, Of petrichor, of pollinators, In praise of release, of detachment, impermanence, and the id, Of our heroes, and our stories, and our motives, In praise of growth. Of, change. Of the maturation of all living things. Of aging. In praise of the weekend! Of Sundays, however spent. In praise of dynamism, and tapering. Of self-love. In praise of ethics; Of dilemmas, of guardian angels, of sundials, of barbed-wire fences, of wide-open pastures, of softness, of heartiness, of dandelions and sunflowers and weathervanes and windmills, In praise of articulation, Of authenticity, of anticipation- In praise of LIGHTHOUSES! Of storms and every port we find ourselves sheltered in, In praise of the blood in our veins, Of the stars, of hope and love and dissonance and repair, In praise of the cracking: Of cold ones and smiles and hearts and jokes, In praise of support, in praise of comfort, in praise of rest, Of absolutes, and abstracts, In praise of gallantry, Of humility, of chivalry, of dependability, In praise of disappointment, Of dashboard polaroids and handmade gifts, In praise of arrival, Of being, of becoming, of believing in, In praise of the parable, Of retrograde, of regression, In praise of our hands, in praise of our hearts, Of composure and the loss thereof, In praise of loneliness. Of the space of between. In praise of the truth, even when it hurts. Of kitchen dancing and porch swing sitting. In praise of rocking chairs. Of heirlooms. Of memory lane. In praise of everything. All of it. Everything. Of the joy.. and the pain. In praise of loss. In praise of gain.
I give thanks for the lot of it. I give thanks for every day.

Fandom zine now accepting submissions! What is fandom? There are many different ideas about what fandom ‘is’, but according to my own experience, fandom is a group or community of fans who engage in discourse about a subject of common interest. The fan experience is what comprises a fandom, and what drives fan work and celebration. What are you looking for? Articles on any subject related to…
