With the end of summer, of endless heat, comes autumn. Leaves are drained of their colour, and wind often howls through the air, trees seeming to whistle and whisper with their movements.
And, of course, also with autumn comes Halloween. And things in the castle don’t seem quite right with this momentous occasion.
The electrical lights have all died, as if someone has come in the middle of the night, removing each and every fuse. Fireplaces, candles, oil lamps, and fires made from magic become the only source of light after dark. (And, take care if you travel into the forest to gather firewood for a fire after dark; you don’t want to know what’s out there, watching.)
Even during the day, the clouds are so overcast, sunlight seems scarce. Day is barely different from night. Noises and screams can be heard throughout the abandoned rooms in the castle, but no one can be found to be making them. The basements are the bleakest of these places, dark and echoing. Outside the castle, monsters, and heartless seem stronger, and much more aggressive. The caves are in constant fog, and ghosts roam the graveyard there. Fog rolls in closer during the early evening, and doesn’t leave until past dawn. At night, the ocean is black as ink, thick and opaque ,the tide slapping against the rocks almost to the beat of a heart.
Take care, during these days. But that is not the worst of it, not by far. Pay attention to your surroundings, and make absolute sure you don’t end up in any rooms marked ‘101,’ for these contain the worst fears unique and known to the person who enters, no matter their complexity. Being supernatural places that feed off of fear, if more then one person enters, the person with the strongest fear with take precedent.
So, our first holiday event is upon us! Some small, formal, though essential, mod notes below;
Feel free to be as creative as you want during this event. For most things, you won’t need to ask for mod permission. Just make sure your partner is okay with whatever you are doing.
In that vein, yes, this is horror themed, and you are encouraged to have horror/scary/nightmarish threads,though whatever specific sub-genre you want to touch is up to you. If you do go extremely far, either psychologically or with more physical ones such as gore, torture, etc, try to tag them if they seem extreme? Use your own judgement, and it’s just a caution. And, again, make sure your partner is okay with it. Usual stuff.
This will last until November 1st, and I don’t think setting a time is necessary. I’m fairly sure it’ll just die out. (we will make a post on either the night of November 1st, or the morning of November 2nd, clearing up that the event is done, yes.)
If you want to have threads taking place in the group, but outside the event, for whatever reason (ignoring the limitations the event provides) that’s okay too. It’s understandable that you may have certain threads, and plots going. If you really don’t want to, you don’t have to acknowledge the event at all.
Have fun, guys! Make the most of this opportunity to get in the spirit of Halloween.

EVENT: START
It seems all this rain has finally had a pay off. With a loud roar, a large wave of water has risen up from the ocean zone and is racing towards the castle! When it hits, the entire first floor will be submerged in water... And it won't stop there. Let's hope everyone can get to high ground...
WEATHER EVENT IN PROGRESS
A great deal of clouds are beginning to form over the castle, having drifted in from the ocean zone. They are dark and forbidding, with an occasional flash of lightning streaking between them. The smell of water is heavy in the air as it begins to rain.
At first, the rain is light, but it progressively begins to get harder and harder. The rain is soon coming down fast and there is little visibility outside the windows of the castle. One would be unable to see very far outside the windows.
It may be preferable to stay inside and dry than risk exploring in this kind of weather.
