It’s easy to lose track of what day it is during the festivities, but I checked and it’s certainly Monday, so here’s my collection in a vase on monday for the new year.
There’s just a few flowers to choose from at this time of year, but that makes what is available more special. Such as these little yellow snapdragons I brought from London, and planted by the pinkish ones planted here by the previous gardener. They’re very nearly finished, but still a very welcome splash of colour.
I collected a posy of with the snapdragons, of maidenhair fern, heather, parsley, bay, and eucalyptus from the garden, and put them in a lovely twisted vase that my husband gave me a few years ago.
The fresh flowers sit on the table with an arrangement of twisted willow stems and dried seedheads which I collected here last January, in a gorgeous two-tone vase that my husband gave me this christmas. I’ve added some glittery decor, and I like how the little bits of tinsel catch the sunlight.
I’m about ready to put my feet up and flick through a few seed catalogues for the year ahead. But first I’ll pop over and you join Cathy and her happy gang for this joyous blogging habit and see what other gardeners have collected In a Vase on Monday.
Whatever your plans are, I hope you have a blooming marvellous 2018!

On Monday, Cathy at Rambling in the garden hosts a wonderful meme, where gardeners share a vase of their bestest blooms. My contribution this week is also number 42 of my ‘Today’s Bouquet’ series, a project to cut a new bouquet of garden flowers every weekday, and post them for sale at FromeBlooms.com. The flowers are a magnificently mixed bunch, showing how many new blooms have recently popped…

In A Vase on Monday, 27 March: Brucie Forsythia
This Monday’s bouquet contains forsythia, narcissi, pear blossom, clematis tendrils, with willow catkins and stems of twisted willow. This bouquet is named in honour of Bruce Forsyth, who is recovering after an illness. It’s always wonderful to see the bright yellow blooms of forsythia at this time of year. Bright yellow blossoms are a real treat in a garden that’s still looking quite wintery. My…
