The bells rung from above you as you entered the grocery store. Smelling the freshly baked bread near the pastries section, you clutch your written list of necessities whilst the other pushes the cart.

Sighing. ‘Since when has cat food gotten expensive?’

“….anything for my precious cat” you say putting the canned item in your cart. Checking that off your list, you near the feminine area.

‘Tampons or pads?’ You ponder, balancing both items in your hands.

‘Why am I even holding tampons if I’m scared of them..’ Sweating at the thought, you place the item in your cart, checked it off and looked at the last item in your list.

“Let’s see… eggs, right eggs” pushing the cart near the refrigerators. You’re grabbing the carton of eggs not knowing the commotion outside. You reach for the eggs and set them in the cart. “Guess that’s it from the list”

Bells rang from the door, signaling someone coming in, threatening that is.

“LISTEN UP EVERYONE, DO WHAT I SAY AND YOU WONT SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES”

Turning around quickly, you see an intimidating masked man pointing his gun at the cashier.

“Seriously? A robbery now? Just my luck” you see the cashier attempting to open the register, it doesn’t open due to his shaken hands.

“Please, Don’t harm me, I can’t seem to open the cash register!” The cashier exclaimed in fear.

Seeing the situation, you attempt to leave the store. Unfortunately, you have to leave your cart.

‘Sorry precious’ you thought about your cat.

Tippy toeing near the exit, you accidentally step on a dog toy.

Of course this happens.

Turning around slowly, you see the criminal grinning. “And where do you think you’re going?”

‘Crap! What do I do? I can’t make the run for it, he blocked it off!”

Looking around for an escape, he approaches you, grabbing your hair in a pile and pointing the gun at you.

“Agh!” Your arms reach where his hands were, trying to pry them off. “Take the money out now or this civilian dies!”

You shook in fear. Is this how i go? Knowing my cat is waiting for me, my family and friends…

While the criminal looks the other direction, you took a glance and see the cashiers shaking attempt on calling for help. You didn’t see whether he dialed or not because of the criminal shaking his hand with your hair.

“Stop! Please” you scream in pain.

“Seems like the cashier doesn’t want to give me my money, I’m going to kill you”

You looked at the cashier with desperation, eyes asking for help. You mouth him ‘please’

You prepare for the worst. “At least my friend will be going to my apartment later and take care of my cat” you mumble.

“Heh? What are you babbling about?”

Suddenly a loud thud was heard outside, heads turn to that direction and it’s the one and only…

Gamma Jack

Looking at him closely, you recognized him! You’ve only seen him on television when it was Supers Appreciation Day. Now you know why they called him Handsome Jack.

Focus!

“You picked the wrong target, now back off”

Gamma Jack hovers in front of the criminal and woman, fists clenched with a grim face.

“Pathetic. More of you supers, had to be you Gamma Jack”

He piles more of your hair and lifts you in the air. “Gamma, you wouldn’t want me to snap her neck would you?” He says wrapping his other arm around your neck.

“Harm her, and I’ll have you find out how much radiation it takes to stop a heartbeat”

“Try me”

“You asked for it”

Gamma Jack then starts to look focused, staring at the criminal intently.

‘What is he doing?!’ You think with widen eyes.

“Sorry that you’ll have to see this, darlin” he grins balling a green energy in his hand.

Light surged from his palm in a terrifying way, lighting up the whole store. He discharges a burst of radiation that completely disintegrated the criminal.

You cough. ‘What the hell just happened?!’

“You alright? Damn criminals these days” he huffs rolling his eyes.

You blink. Turning to where the criminal was, you saw dust.

“EH?!” You exclaim surprisingly.

“What?” He asks confused.

“You pulverized him!” Turning to him in a nervous manner.

“He had it coming, plus it’s not like I can help it since he was bound to die either way due to radiation” He says unbothered.

…

“You know for saving your life, I deserve you number no?”

You blink. Is this guy serious?

“Huh?! He was about to kill me and you want my number?” You call out.

“Correct and I saved your life. You’re a beautiful woman too so I couldn’t help myself but save a damsel in distress” he exclaims smiling.

You were dumbfounded.

“Look… I am deeply grateful you came and saved my life but I really need to get to my cat that’s waiting for me in my apartment” you say awkwardly.

“Perfect! I’ll take you, what’s better than a nice romantic stroll in the air?” He says flashing a smile.

Hope you guys enjoyed! I am really intrigued by his character. Although, due to his personality it was hard to write a fic that’s accurate and fits him you know? I would really appreciate feedback since I haven’t written for a while until now…. ՞߹ - ߹՞
