Business Challenge
In 2009, Independence Bank was a small community bank serving Western Kentucky. At the time, banks were failing around the nation as the economic crisis came to a head. Consumer distrust of financial institutions was at an all-time high. In conjunction with our client, we made the decision to ride with the tide – by agreeing with consumers that banks needed to change. Independence Bank would lead the way with a revolution in banking.
Adaptive Solution
Refused to produce a bland bank marketing campaign that vaguely promised “we are on your side.” Created a banking revolution with its own articles of confederation, the “Declaration of Independence Bank.” Launched a campaign that encouraged consumers to “Join the Revolution” by highlighting the bank’s core philosophy: that banking should be done the right way, honestly and with integrity, no matter what.
Results
Independence is now the fastest-growing bank in Western Kentucky with new counties being added to their footprint each year for the past three years, and new banking locations opening up in existing markets each year for the past three years.
In May 2013, Independence Bank was ranked the 2nd Strongest Community Bank in the nation by the American Bankers Association.
The bank has grown from $600 million to over $1 billion in total assets.
Web site traffic has grown steadily +17% year over year since the site launch.
