B. Makes me feel like I'm in nature. Witch is more or less where I actually live.
C. It reminds me of the music my church used to play.
I first really heard indi folk when playing Life Is Strange and that game to me picked me up out of my college life, and dropped me in the life of a college girl. It didn't make a huge freaking deal about being a girl protagonist, but it also didn't ignore it. So there were subtle differences that made me feel really nice inside.
Life is strange also takes place in a small rural town, witch is where I come from, and I think I was playing Life is Strange when I was temporarily living in a city. The leaning heavily on the acoustic reminds me of camp songs as well.
The music also sounds very similar to the music churches I used to attend would play. Sung in very similar voices, with the same instruments. And using a musical style that has a sort of ethereal feel to it. (This ethereal music was useful in "invoking" the holy spirit. My sister later pointed out that the music was leaned on heavily for emotional manipulation of the congregation into feeling the desired emotions the speaker wanted to push onto the congregation.) I've managed to recaptured that feeling with this music alone.
The fact this music was also played in one of those camps also helps connect it to a nature feeling as well. Because I could wander off into the camp and still hear it in the distance.
So indi-folk not only makes me feel more feminine, but it also lets me hold onto many of the old positive feelings of the church while I simultaneously drift away from it.
