India and stuff
Well I haven't written as much on here as I thought I would, so today whilst I am trying to defy my jetlag/bodyclock I'm going to splurg some thoughts on India.
I'm not a huge fan of the country as a whole. This is mostly because I never get a good view of it, travelling here through work means I don't get to spend much time in one place. I do however get to see more of the country than back packers who come here and at the airport headoff to some tourist place or shrine or the country side. They don't get to see the "industrial estates" that I get to see. That means they don't get to see the tents made of polythene sheeting behind them where the people who are working in there live.
They don't get to see the skyscrapers in the centre of the city or the people sleeping rough 200m down the road.
That's why I'm not a fan, there is such a gulf of living conditions between the very rich and the very poor. It's just not right. I'm not going to do anything about, don't get me wrong, I'm just not into being an activist.
The other reason I don't appreciate this country is that every single flight (last count 9) internally in the country has been delayed. One by 5 hours.
Anyway this trip is better, apart from getting to the hotel at 3.30am on the first day and leaving at 6.30am, I've been fairly well looked after. For exampletonight I'm staying at this hippy type hotel in the centre of Bangalore where everything is green and organic, including the 4 course traditional dinner I've just eaten. Rice with three of the dishes, including extra portions for me as I made the right sounds... Or something.
I'm still looking forward to going home.
Just some thoughts I had whilst typing.
