Celebrating The Science Of Making At Maker Mela!

The maker movement having taken the world by storm, is forming shape in India. Equipping a brigade of inventors, designers, tinkerers with community-run workshops, the evolution is one of its kind empowering people for Do-It-Yourself and Do-It-With-Others projects.
In what seems to be a revolutionizing way of getting inspired and making things, Maker Mela, the first ever nationwide Maker movement served as a platform for folks with unique and unconventional ideas.
Organized by RIIDL, a research innovation incubation design lab from KJ Somaiya College of Engineering, the event- a two day affair attracted a young crowd involving enthusiasts from mid-school level to hobbyists, and focused on helping budding minds on how to innovate and start building.
As an innovation partner, Imaginarium conducted a workshop on DIY: 3D printing and its applications. The workshop focused on demonstrating the concept of 3D printing, processes involved, and how can technology help in enhancing creativity.
Guruprasad Rao, Mentor/Director, Imaginarium, one of the speakers at the event talked about the way things are changing in medical sector with influence of 3D printing. Rao also talked about how the Maker movement is a need of the hour and the extent to which Maker community is affecting learning and innovating procedures in India.
Imaginarium Academy focuses on empowering the generation with tools required to build a better tomorrow. We have been creating awareness regarding 3D printing in India through industrial visits for school and college level students. As part of our ongoing efforts to build a sound ecosystem for 3DP in India, we will soon be coming out with Metamorphosis cafe as an innovation enabler for Makers.
High time we began to adopt the potential of technology.
