I would be remiss if I didn't honor my great-grandmother on what would be her 100th birthday. I could say sooo much about her, but most notably, she was a wordsmith, a genius, a poet, and she worked for years as an editor for the #IndianapolisRecorder newspaper, one of the oldest Black publications in America. She corrected every misspoken word, forbade us to use slang, was a superb gourmet cook, and gave me my very first lessons in dignity, class, and self-respect. She would be so proud to know I am continuing the legacy as an editor. Jeannette Helen Cowherd-Wilkey. (August 31, 1919-October 19, 2004) I love you forever, our beloved Neanette!!! #genealogy #familyhistorian https://www.instagram.com/p/B12iEIvAwrp5gwyoZh6jT9TxwuSn4WudXbNbd40/?igshid=cguxdnlc48n6
