Bal Gangadhar Tilak, also known as Lokmanya Tilak, was an Indian nationalist, philosopher, and social reformer who played a significant role in India's struggle for independence from British colonial rule. He was born on July 23, 1856, in Ratnagiri, a small town in the western Indian state of Maharashtra. Tilak was a prominent figure in the Indian National Congress and is widely regarded as the father of Indian nationalism.
