I really want to make an indie website inspired from the 2000’s to just talk about stuff I like or want to discuss! But HTML is so daunting!! I feel like I’m trying to delve back into my IGCSE computer science knowledge which is minimal to none! Any advice…. I want it to be so cute and funky!! If yall have any cool digital rubbish that would be funky send some over xx

yknow something ive noticed from browsing the indie internet and neocities and such is that modern social media really does train you to be immediately upset or weirded out by things you dont understand.

when i read something on a personal website as opposed to reading something on an algorithm ridden social media site im actually like. inclined to listen to what the person is saying, even if i personally disagree or dont like the topic or whatever. it feels alot easier to be truly in tune with the whole "as long as youre not hurting anyone then i dont care" mindset when reading others experiences like that.

meanwhile on twitter or whatever other social media if youre not careful your opinion on something may aswell just be formed based on whoever expresses their opinion on said thing first before anyone else can in an assertive and rude enough way.

tldr social media bad and stop using non arguments to justify being weird about people who are causing no real harm to anyone.

the newsletter would feature sections highlighting cool personal(or otherwise indie) websites(with avenues to submit your own), developments in the indie-web scene(such as the creation of other webhosts), spotlights on cool online services to help indie-web developers, and monthly nostalgia in the form of archived geocities sites and old youtube videos.
