Neal hated these nights. Luckily, it happened only once a year. But this time, he was driving home and it was getting close to the hour when the purging would start. Unfortunately, with Neal’s luck, his car broke down in the middle of the road. “Shit!” He cursed and got out, opening the hood of the car. It was smoking and he knew there was nothing he could do to it. He glanced at his watch and sighed. He still had a little time. If he would run, he might make it. Neal grabbed his things from the car and deserted it, starting to run. But he didn’t get home, before he heard the sirens. He wasn’t anywhere near home. The streets got empty, but that lasted only for mere minutes, until people were on a rampage, stealing, murdering and breaking into places. Neal did his best to avoid those people, but not for long. He was being cornered by three people in masks, with bats and knives. “Please, just let me go!” He pleaded. Neal was cursing himself and his dislike for weapons. And his broken car. “I don’t want any trouble!” Was he going to be just beaten, or beaten to death? He hoped someone would help him. Anyone. “Help!!”
