I’M NOT LOST – I’M MARCHING TO THE BEAT OF A DIFFERENT DRUM.
GIVE ME THE LIGHT YOU STOLE FROM MY HEART – ALL I SEE NOW ARE THE SHADOWS.
A learning experience is one of those things that says “YOU KNOW THAT THING YOU JUST DID? WELL, DON’T DO IT!!”
Quote from Douglas Adams

"A starving person doesn't look at the menu," said the St Valentine's lamp man.
Pride and ...
A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what we would have others think of us. (quote from Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin)

Inconspicuous? Me? Larga stared up at the woman who had addressed him thus and was compounding the offence by smirking. Her only function (as far as he was concerned) was to supply him with food of an acceptable quality and to ensure that his bedding was always clean. If she believed that he was an inconspicuous animal, she was obviously deranged. To let her know that he was amused by her assumption, he bared his teeth in a ferocious grin.

The wooden hut stood in a clearing surrounded by ancient trees and saplings forcing their way through a mass of brambles woven into the undergrowth. Larga wriggled out and into the open. This was his world. This was where he belonged. He hadn’t bitten the woman who had so offended him, who was of no consequence and could be allowed to live. He bounded across to the hut. The she-wolf waiting on the threshold greeted him with a growl then moved aside to let him in. She had found him as a pup lying beside his dead mother and had fed, nurtured then let him go when he was full-grown. Now he was back.

Cheeseburger? Larga caught the rank human odour of milk and meat as he bounded between the trees, the she-wolf at his side. He eyed the crushed remains lying on the dead woman’s body, the snake’s coils encircling her throat. He had spared her life, another had ended it.
