★ Salman Khan Enthralls Audience at Indo-American Corporate Excellence Awards !
Salman Khan regaled the august audience at the 8th Indo-American Corporate Excellence Awards with his dapper looks and wacky humor, at Hotel Trident in Nariman Point, Mumbai on Wednesday, July 4, 2012.
Salman, 46, wore a grey suit, navy buttoned down shirt, black pointy dress shoes and a swanky watch.
Salman was felicitated at the event for his philanthropic efforts in the field of education. He was also a presenter at the Awards event that additionally celebrated the US Independence Day.
After receiving the award he expressed his admiration for the US in his own inimitable way, recalling how a friend, a TV cable technician, had emigrated to the US for greener pastures but returned to his hometown in Bhopal in three days because he could not adjust to the American penchant for being different from the rest of the world - electric switches, driving on the road and domestic power voltage.
"He was one namuna, specimen, who came back, but all my friends who have gone to America they don't even want to come here on a holiday, I wonder why? See I am an actor. Those guys were the sensible ones. 'Padhe Likhe thay,' educated - engineers, Doctors, scientists - they are getting a lot of money there."
"Me, I am just giving Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, all these guys a chance."
He took a dig at Shah Rukh Khan and his film.
"And my name is actually Khan. And I am actually not a terrorist, I am an actor."
"I love America. I like Miami. Really like Miami. I like LA, New York. Long Live America. Jai Hind."
When he came on stage the second time as a presenter, he talked about what he does best - the films.
"You guys make amazing movies. Awesome!"
He then paused to voice a disclaimer that he was just joking, adding that he has great sense of humor and he would be willing to concede that Americans too have a sense of humor only if they don't reject his five year visa!
"Amazing movies, you all can make anything look good. Like for example the names I took - Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt."
