Smart Factory Gateway Upgrade: Stable Wi-Fi Connectivity for Industrial Automation
A European automation company was developing a new generation of industrial gateways for factory data collection. The gateway needed to communicate with PLC controllers, sensors, and handheld terminals inside a large manufacturing facility.
During the prototype testing stage, the customer found that the original Wi-Fi module had unstable connections when multiple devices were working simultaneously. The signal became weaker in areas with metal structures, machines, and electrical interference. This caused occasional data transmission delays and affected real-time monitoring.
The engineering team needed a reliable embedded Wi-Fi solution that could easily integrate into their existing industrial computer platform.
After evaluating different wireless modules, they selected Wallys DR7915 Mini PCIe Wi-Fi 5 module based on the MT7915+MT7975 chipset.
The Mini PCIe interface allowed quick integration into their gateway hardware without redesigning the mainboard. The dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz support provided flexible wireless deployment options, while the stable RF performance improved communication reliability in the factory environment.
With DR7915 installed, the industrial gateways achieved more stable wireless connections and smoother communication between machines and management systems.
The customer successfully completed field testing and moved forward with mass production.
