i cried like a baby when i heard arthur say this the first time cause it broke my heart that he just wanted john to live a life with his family :( and we all saw how that turned out. plus the fact that it was arthur saying it, when loyalty meant everything to him; he knew dutch was going insane and the gang wasn’t going to last much longer, so he tried to push john as much as he could to think for himself.

also not really a quote, but “may i stand unshaken” will never not strike a chord in me, so it’s really hard to choose between these two haha.
