Just a thought...
Everyone knows the horror cliché of inept cops, yeah? They always end up being killed and are of no help. When faced with something paranormal/unexplainable, they still go in and get killed. Now look at the cops in The Conjuring 2. They arrive to do their jobs. They've been notified of a possible intruder, they come in and look around. Then they experience an unexplainable feat of a chair moving by itself. And what do they do? Do they try and find an explanation? Do they keep investigating until they get themselves killed? No, they realize the validity of this feat, realize there's nothing they can do, and leave. Seriously, if more cops were like these two, inept cops wouldn't be a horror cliché.
