cc otsuuuuuuuu!! have you ever tower defensed with your life on the line😩😩
This autumn has been a season of farewells. We lost our beloved cat Kira in September, just a little over a year after her sister Keiko passed away. And then, in late November, we said goodbye to Ellen, our oldest hen. She was a remarkable little hen. The shock of losing her so suddenly has not settled, and today it deepened even further as we had to say farewell to another wonderful hen, Ines.
She had her struggles with health over the years, yet more than anything she was a joyful, curious and wonderfully headstrong soul. She was always the first one out of the henhouse every morning, she loved her dust baths, and nothing delighted her more than digging through the earth in search of seeds and worms. Her life wasn’t as long as Ellen’s, but the life she did have was full of energy, quirky adventures and a contagious zest for living. She was stubborn in the best of ways, but despite care and medication, she couldn’t overcome the illness that ultimately took her from us.
Today, I want to honour Ines. She now rests in the ground beside Ellen. But in my heart, Ines is alive and well, her story still unfolding, side by side with Ellen. Above them both, a sunny June sky. And my love will forever keep them safe.
just between us
