Today’s #rarebookfriday is a reminder that there is an exhibit on display in the Architecture Library. Stop in and see DE FRANCE: INFLUENTIAL BOOKS OF ARCHITECTURE FROM FRANCE IN THE RYAN RARE BOOK ROOM COLLECTION. Seen here is Jacques Androuet du Cerceau’s LIVRE DES EDIFICES ANTIQUES ROMAINS, 1584. Androuet du Cerceau was an architect, engraver, furniture designer, and decorator, who at one point was employed by the French King Charles IX and Catherine de Médicis. At trip to Rome early in his career proved to have tremendous influence in his later work (much like our own third year architecture students, #ExpoRoma), as is clearly visible in this publication. #romanarchitecturedrawnbytheFrench #rarebookexhibit #influenceofRomanArchitecture #architecturebooks #sixteenthcentury #androuetducerceau #rrbr #archlibnd
