Top 10 Facts About Cats
Cats are among the cutest pets that many people are keen to buy and raise, and despite the spread and diversity of cats, and many of us are familiar with some information about cats, ways of raising them, their different types, and feeding them, there are still many facts that we do not know about them, and in this article we will present Top 10 Facts You Didn't Know About Cats
1. CATS CANNOT GO UP WITH THEIR HEADS DOWN Cats can climb a tree easily but getting down the same way is a challenge for them. The cat would rather jump out of a tree than climb with its head down first. In order to descend, the cat must either retreat or jump. Cat's claws are curved back which facilitates climbing on a tree or wall. They simply hook their tentacles into the crevices and propel themselves upward. When descending head first, the claws are bent upwards and cannot be held securely on a tree or climbing surface. Cats who don't know what to do while there is a tree will stay there until help comes.
2. CATS SLEEP UP TO 18 HOURS A DAY Cats are one of the best sleepers in the animal kingdom, spending about 16 to 20 hours a day sleeping regardless of their age. A newborn cat may spend 24 hours sleeping. Interestingly, the nine-year-old cat has only been awake for three years. Cats are most active at dusk and dawn and spend most of the day sleeping. Cats also use a lot of energy to chase their prey, so sleep helps the cat reserve energy for running and chasing.
3- NAMES OF CAT GROUPS Each group of cats has its own name, where the group of small cats is called the kindle and the group of large or adult cats is called CLOWDER
4. ABRAHAM LINCOLN WAS A CAT LOVER Abraham Lincoln was an extraordinary cat lover, as he was the first American president to allow cats to live in the White House, where he had four private cats.
5- CATS DON'T TASTE SWEETS Cats cannot taste sweet foods like other animals because they lack a sweet-tasting center, and scientists believe that this is because cats were feeding on meat and so they did not have to taste sweets.
6- A CAT'S MEOW IS LIKE A BABY'S CRY Cats make several sounds, but in a study conducted in 2009, it appeared that cats meow is the method that cats follow in dealing with humans, and it mimics the crying of children who cry until they get their purpose, and we do not find cats meow on each other, but do so when they communicate with only humans.
