Roy couldn't help but smile. He had thought many times over the years what it would be like to have a relationship with Hughes beyond friendship, but considering his friend had been married, Roy had always stopped himself from giving it too serious of thought. Though he couldn't deny he was a little surprised as well. "You're sentimental tonight." He could think of plenty of other kinds of pictures Hughes could take of him if they were together but kept that thought to himself. "What else would you do if I were yours?" he asked in a playful tone.
Hughes couldn't help but chuckle at Roy's tone. He hadn't expected Roy to encourage him going in that direction, but he sounded like he was at least entertaining the thought. "There are a few other things I could think of. I could take you out somewhere nice for dinner, but I like the idea of cooking something for you myself. I'm not bad in the kitchen. Break out a bottle of wine. I bet if I looked hard enough, I could find one from the year we met. Maybe we'd even make a weekend out of it, somewhere outside the city where we could be alone under the stars. You want me to keep going?"
There had been more than a few times over the years between the time they'd met and even until recently that he'd wondered how things could have gone between him and Roy if he hadn't married Gracia. He never regretted marrying her for a second, but he'd always cared about Roy, too. But without her, those thoughts came back more frequently, and Roy was right that he was the sentimental type, and he'd had plenty of time on and off to dwell on what he would do if things took that kind of turn.
