i can imagine the day sorrow dies as being beautiful - much like her. the sun is rising and she gets to see the stars fade out of view as the sun rises. she gets to see how beautiful the world is as she takes her last breath. does she die like that? i think it's a good death, for such a pained bird.

super silly sorrow facts!!
sorrow won't eat any type of bird. she hates it. in that one episode where dean has that evil turducken sandwich, she nearly cries seeing that many birds in one meal and dean has to go and eat it on a separate table by decree of sam and cas
she gives people her shedded feathers as gifts and — she's not aware of it — but cas has one stitched into the inside of his jacket to keep her with him at all times
her and cas stand alarmingly close to each other at all times. neither of them understand personal space. dean has to force them to stand apart because they look like they're melting into one another
sorrow gets a stuffed toy owl for her first christmas with the winchesters. it's called trinket!!
she is constantly smiling. like, almost in a disconcerting way 😭 she just lurks behind sam and dean and grins at people
she LOVES jack. she feels very safe and very understood by him because they are both abominations in the eyes of heaven, really, and he matches her very childish mind very well
sam cuts up all her food for her and she gives him a hug to say thank you every single time
licks random things and then gets shouted at by dean because "you can't lick a lampost, lucky, jesus fuckin' christ!" but then she'll lick something else again two seconds later
in regards to the previous bullet point, dean calls her 'lucky' and 'birdie'. that's more a dean fact than a sorrow fact but it was cute so i thought i'd include it 😋

truthfully, i have not seen many cartoons so this was tricky!! so, not all my OCs are here because i couldn't think of enough examples, and i don't even know what qualifies as a cartoon so this may just be animated characters...

gracie goes all the way through her life with her lisp. she will forever have to introduce herself as 'gray-thee' and i think that's very sweet as it means that part of her will stick with her forever and ever
she feels maternal instincts towards the very hungry caterpillar and wishes she could keep it as a pet
she used to keep her medication in a gumball machine
she won't drink any kind of coffee, not even if it has fun syrups or whatever, because she's convinced it just tastes burnt no matter what
she's one of those people who sneezes really politely and you wonder why they sound like a whimsical hedgehog
gracie refers to the void version of herself as gracie-girl and treats her like her daughter because she's so desperate to 'fix' that part of herself and make her understand that she deserved kindness
after steve dies, gracie never really feels wanted again
gracie is ill for the rest of her life. not constantly, but she's always experiencing something that causes her some sort of pain. whether it's her heart of her lungs or something else entirely, she is never truly well, and she never gets to be carefree like a healthy person would

why does yelena hate gracie?
in short, yelena hates gracie because she thinks she killed nat, or at least, encouraged nat's death.
gracie and lena don't meet until hawkeye, but before then, yelena has heard about her. well. she's heard nat's version of her. driven crazy with the jealousy of someone getting to grow up with nat, combined with the incredulousness that someone could ever not want that or take it for granted, yelena is just seething over the idea of gracie altogether. the way nat describes her, she makes her out to seem difficult and selfish and like she's in some way out to get nat, so yelena just thinks she's a spoilt brat of a child.
and then, she finds out gracie was on vormir with nat.
gracie who got everything yelena ever wanted. gracie who didn't even want it herself. spoiled and lucky and rotten and she'd wasted it, she'd ruined it, she'd killed the one thing yelena loved. that was the narrative yelena painted in her head. that's why she hates her.
in regards to her ever becoming gentle with her, hawkeye ends with yelena eventually realising that what nat had told her was a lie. she's heartbroken so she lets gracie slip through her fingers, but in thunderbolts, she's fighting to save her from herself. thunderbolts is as much about yelena and gracie as hawkeye is :((
void!gracie is the worst part of herself in human form. void!gracie is all of gracie's pain, all of her grief, all of her anger, all of her emptiness, shown in her most vulnerable form. she isn't real and she isn't even a person - more like a ghost of something - but she feels real to gracie because she's the physical incarnation of all the things she's been trying to escape but also all the things she can't let herself let go of.
void!gracie is destroying real gracie as she's sucking all the energy from her and absorbing huge parts of her mind, but gracie doesn't see her for the lost cause of a parasite that she is. to her, that's just herself. the little version of her she couldn't save. and the reason she's so far gone is because in order to gain her sanity back, she needs to give void!gracie back to the void, but she feels like that would be betraying herself. lots of sad and paradoxically adjacent stuff :((

nope. she's more important.
as is mentioned occasionally throughout GT, gracie was a HYDRA project disguised as a SHIELD one. people in hydra were looking to make some sort of captain america replica to have in their army, who they were also hoping to utilise to manipulate the winter soldier. having someone who was remarkably similar to his old friend was intended to be used as some sort of emotional weapon to keep him loyal and ready.
obviously, though, gracie's project failed. she came out sickly and therefore useless, so HYDRA abandoned her with SHIELD and moved on. her original intention was to be a child soldier, so in some ironic way, gracie was very lucky she ended up as broken as she is.
truthfully? nobody important!! gracie was grown artificially with her dad's DNA and an egg that was donated, so her mom is just whichever anonymous woman that was looking to make a few bucks and donate part of herself to an unknown cause 😭 i've never thought in depth about who she would be but a couple of people have asked me recently, so i find it interesting that you guys are curious.
unfortunately, gracie's mom remains both irrelevant and anonymous. sorry guys :((

i think SHIELD!! after she turned out a failure, HYDRA gave up on her. the only time they think to use her again is in ca:tws, but that's more as a tool to manipulate bucky, steve and nat rather than to create a proper, proper weapon. if they wanted her super bad, their plan wouldn't have been to send her to the red room.
is sorrow at peace when she dies??
yes!! prior to sorrow dying, she grows weaker and weaker in the months leading up to it, and by the time it officially rolls around, she is tired and has accepted it. i mean, she had a largely happy life!! she was adored by pretty much everyone around her, enthralled by the world she lived in and just so constantly overjoyed about everything. she lived life to the absolute fullest and while everyone around her felt it was cut short, she was ok with it.
birds are only ever meant to have a short lifespan :))
