ah, i have a question! i think i may have did, but i also have autism, and a lot of the typical development times were delayed, i think. the trauma i had was around 10-12 years old, and though i had trauma before then, i think the trauma that my did, if i have it, stemmed from was the trauma i had at about 10-12. because my development was a bit delayed, is it possible i have did, or another identity disorder? thanks!
I don’t think I know enough about you to have an educated opinion on your situation, and it’s a really good idea to sort this out with a professional.
I do know that it’s really hard for DID/OSDD-1 to form later in childhood. If you have DID, it’s likely that it formed before age 10 and it’s very unlikely that it formed later.
There isn’t really another identity disorder. The only disorders that cause alters are DID, OSDD-1a, and OSDD-1b. OSDD-1a doesn’t require fully distinct alters/fully distinct switches, and OSDD-1b doesn’t require amnesia between fronters.
Dissociation can be attributed to cPTSD, and I know that sometimes with autism different emotional reactions and skillsets are compartmentalized. This might make you feel as though you only have access to different skills or reactions at particular times.
But again with your particular situation I really do advise you to seek professional help. Sorry I can’t be of more help and I wish you the best with your diagnosis and healing!!
