The Albanian Infinitive

In Albanian the Infinitive form of the verb is lost so it is expressed with a syntactic construction of subordinate type of final value (or a consecutive one or a declared one). Basically, when you translate "to be" you use a phraseological expedient: "me të qenë" (or "të qën", "të jesh" and a lot of others) literaly means "the act of being", or just "being". But the concept itself isn't the same as the one that rules infinitive as we konow it in English or Italian.

I say "it is lost" and not that it doesn't exist because the Albanian language is historically complicated and it lacks sources compared to other languages of Europe or even of the Balcanic region, and it's very possible that once the infinitive really existed, exactly as it once existed the postponed definite article but today it sticks with the word to which refers (with an agglutination mechanism widspread in shqip).
