Brendon’s wife breaks her ankle, is given morphine, and goofy chaos ensues. 😵💫 (random age picked for his wife, some medical terminology included.)
Thanks for all the love and support on my other Park x reader fics! I’m forever grateful to every one of you that reads, reblogs, and likes 🤍.
The stretcher rolled into the sliding doors of the PTMC Emergency Dept, the EMTs talking quickly to the staff. “30 year old female patient, was walking her dog when she twisted her ankle in a hole. She didn’t realize until she went to stand up that the bone was protruding through the skin. 18g IV started in right AC, 4mg zofran given for nausea, 30mg toradol given for pain with 1000mg PO Tylenol.”
You were fighting back tears as the doctors moved you from the stretcher to the trauma bed. “What’s your name?” A female doctor asked, shining a pen light in your eyes. You spoke your name in a shaky voice, wincing as someone began gently prodding your ankle.
“I’m Dr Robinavitch, but you can call me Dr Robby. This is Dr Santos and Dr Whitaker working with me today. You fell in a hole while walking your dog?” Dr Robby’s voice was loud, but steady, easily booming over the chaos in the room.
“Yeah, uh, I was walking him at the dog park and I guess one of the other dogs dug a big hole in the dirt and I just wasn’t paying enough attention, oh my god, ow!” You were cut off by Dr Santos pressing a handheld butterfly ultrasound against your ankle.
“Thready pulse noted, slight discoloration and swelling around the protruding bone.” She stated, wiping the gel off of your ankle. The words “protruding bone” made you ill. You didn’t want anything protruding from your body.
“Can we please get her some pain meds before her x-ray? And maybe an ortho consult, this is going to need surgery.” Dr Whitaker said, and Dr Robby nodded in agreement. “Any chance you’re pregnant?” Whitaker continued, and you shook your head.
“No, I took a test this morning and it was negative.” You said, gritting your teeth as Santos continued to assess you. Relief was quickly given through your IV, as cold morphine was pushed through.
“Good plan. Now who wants to call the shark?” The silence in the room was deafening, and you sighed with relief as the morphine really started to kick in.
You could faintly feel pressure as they secured your ankle, preventing you from moving it and causing anymore damage. The morphine had your mind spinning, your ears buzzing while a warm sensation tingled throughout your body. It had you so out of it, you didn’t even recognize the man that walked in the door of the trauma bay.
“This better be good, Robinavitch, I have shit to do.” Brendon Park announced, walking through the sliding doors and freezing, narrowly missing them closing on him. “What the fuck?” He uttered, almost knocking Whitaker down as he rushed to your bedside. The ER staff stood back in shock, watching the emotion on Park’s face as he took in your injury. “Baby girl, what did you do?” His large hands cupped your face gently, cradling you like you were made of glass.
Your head rolled back onto the stretcher, looking up at his handsome face. “Oh hey Brendon, what are you doing here?” While reaching a hand up and booping his nose. A strangled sound came out of Whitaker’s throat, and Santos watched with her mouth open. Robby just watched carefully, glasses perched on the crook of his nose. “You guys, Brendon is here!” You cheered.
“Yay..” Santos muttered, sarcasm evident in her voice. Brendon began tenderly looking at your ankle, grimacing at the exposed bone.
“Baby, this is going to need surgery.” He told you, running his hand through his slicked back hair, and you just grinned at him, not even realizing what he was saying to you.
“These are my new friends, Brendon! They’ve been so nice to me! Friends, this is my husband!” You announced proudly, reaching out and grasping his hand, showing off your wedding rings, side by side. Everyone was silent for a moment, before Brendon Park, the known ortho “shark,” cleared his voice.
“Jesus, Robinavitch. How much morphine did you give her?” You were looking at your husband adoringly, holding his hand to your chest and you fluttered your eyes at him.
“Apparently just enough.” Dr Robby cackled, turning and stepping out of the trauma bay, getting a handful of hand sanitizer on his way out of the room.

rudy has never actually imagined you without a mask.
never thought twice about who could be hiding under it or what features could lay below the expressionless plate you showed the world.
when he imagines you in his head, its just you, mask all the same. the same person he's shared laughs with. the same person he's hesitated around at first... more than a little intimidated by the sight.
so when he comes in to save you-the mask discarded on the floor like trash, and you sitting there unable to retrieve it... its a shock.
he can see the way your eyes meet his-familiar and brand new all at once-and with the evidence strung out in front of him-he knows who he's looking at for the first time.
the rivets of marred skin long healed over, winding like a river over your features in a way he'd never expected.
He only stares for a second before remembering himself.
"Let's get you out of there, mi amigo."
after saving you, he watches wearily as you slide the mask back over your head. It's still hard for him to reconcile the two versions of you he's seen. how the person he had seen a moment ago, bare-faced, is the same one he's known all this time.
Mostly because he's just curious, disappointed even to see you slip the piece back over your head.
he'd like another look one day.
⑉ ᴊᴏʜɴ "ꜱᴏᴀᴘ" ᴍᴀᴄᴛᴀᴠɪꜱʜ
Soap's always joked about what might be under that mask of yours. Not-so-good-looking as he imagined? Worse? Or even better? Who's to say?... even if a small part of him wants to know.
wishes he could be trusted with the sight even.
doesn't push about anything besides that rare round of banter and teasing.
the day he sees you maskless, is... not ideal.
water rushes in on all sides of you both, and he gets a peek. The way you gasp for air, masked pulled up over your lips in a ploy not to choke. Scarred skin lighting your lips and jaw like a strike over the sky.
The image stays with him longer than he dares to admit (even to himself) but not for the most obvious reasons.
The mask comes off entirely when the two of you escape onto the gravel-strewn riverbed. Tossed off your head while you cough the freshwater out of your lungs. Lurched forward and soaked to the bone. The reveal casual almost-if the two of you had not just nearly drowned.
He can't help but stare, face flushed and sniveling with more than the icy-chill of the stream.
when you catch him staring, he takes a moment before looking away, as if its hard to remember not too. (respecting your wishes an' all.)
"come on," he supplies, tilting his head for you both to keep getting a move on, even as the sight of your bare-face slivers itself into his chest. Embedded safely between his ribs and only revisited in his mind when the nights get too dark.
⑉ ᴄᴀᴘᴛᴀɪɴ ᴊᴏʜɴ ᴘʀɪᴄᴇ
doesn't know how it happened, but one day your mask just lands in his lap. a 'prank' gone wrong at your expense? some sort of message? maybe it just happens to be no big deal... just laundry you had forgotten?
Anyway, Price is the one to come knocking on your door, rapping his knuckles against the wood, mask in hand, and eyes politely shifted off to the side in case you answered without something on your face.
he doesn't mind, but respects your wishes to keep your identity a secret.
for what reason you hide? he's never asked.
The answer just never seemed to matter to him.
its too late that he finds himself staring off into the distance, waiting for you to answer the door... when you do just that.
you're standing off to the side, door barely peeled back a sliver, a familiar eye tracing his figure with weary curiosity. Unmasked, and still clinging to the shadows of your room without it. The scars he can see curling around your lips and twisting the skin.
when you notice his eyes lingering on it; a strange expression reflected on his own face: distant. thoughtful even. he has to stop you before you shut the door entirely on him.
"hold on-! this is yours," he offers, holding it between the space out to you.
nothing said about the snippet he saw. nothing needed to say. you were you, a damned good person, that's all he needed to know.
so, he stands out there, wrist sandwiched between your doorframe and decision. bracing for the possibility of the door closing on his wrist or for you to take the mask from his fingers... or both.
Can I request an Optimus Prime x Human!Reader where the reader is badly injured and Optimus keeps vigil over her? Preferably with some good angsty fluff about feelings realization. ^^ If you don't want to, please just let me know! There's no pressure.
(Oooooh I love this! Angst with a happy ending coming right up! Please note that there may be some clear descriptions of the readers wounds, so if you are not good with blood or major injuries do not continue!)

Optimus Prime x Injured!Human!Reader (Forever with You)
Walking out from your workplace, you begin waiting for Optimus to come pick you up. After a not so friendly first encounter with the Deceptions a couple months ago, that ended up destroying your only car, Optimus made the decision to become your 'guardian' of sorts. That is, until Agent Fowler can get you a replacement for your old car. Which is going to take a while, but you weren't complaining about getting extra time with the sweet Prime. Just from the little amount of time you have known him, he has truly been nothing but humble and kind.
It's quite odd to think about, but you have come to realize that you find more understanding and solace in Optimus than you do in your family or peers, heck even your friends. How can an alien, who has been fighting in a war for longer than your own planet has existed, know you better than your own family? You struggle to wrap your head around it all as Optimus slowly pulls up; some how doing so without you noticing.
Optimus carefully opens his passenger door, watching out for any prying eyes that may notice the lack of driver in his cab. Usually you’d be hoping in by now, but you seem to still be lost in thought. He wonders what you may be thinking; almost hopeful that it is something he can help you with. Odd, now where did that thought come from? You can obviously handle your own problems, but something inside him just wishes to see you happy and stress free.
He's then taken out of his thoughts as he feels your body enter his cab. "Hey, I hope you weren't waiting here very long! I didn't mean to zone out like that." You say, gently rubbing the back of your neck. Then gently close the door behind you. Optimus responds with a even tone saying, "That is alright; I have not been waiting long. I road in only a moment ago." Hearing this, you grin. "Good, I'm glad. So, how are you? I heard from Miko earlier that you all found an untapped energon deposit! That's amazing!"
"What Miko has told you is true, though it is much smaller than we were originally hoping to find." You can almost hear the stress simmer behind his words, though it goes away as quickly as it arrived. “The amount is enough to help us carry on, so you could say we are doing well.” He then begins to pull off, carefully buckling the seatbelt around you. “I didn’t ask about everybody else though, Optimus. I was asking about you.”
This surprises the Prime for a moment, though you couldn't see it while he’s in is alt mode. Most just check in on the whole group or the others, so why are you checking on him alone? “If they are doing well, then I am doing well, Ms. Y/N.” You roll your eyes saying, “Optimus how many times have I told you, just call me Y/N.” His response reminded you a lot of yourself; always more worried about others than yourself. He needs to realize that you care about his feelings, not just his actions as the leader of the Autobots.
“Optimus”, you say in a voice that he recognizes as concern, but for what he can’t quite tell. “It’s okay to not be okay. You can be disappointed, heck you can feel whatever you want. It’s okay to be more open with your emotions. I know you guard yourself because you’re the leader and you don’t wanna let anyone down. You need to be the strong one that everyone relies on, but that doesn’t mean that you have to hide your true emotions from those who truly care about you.” As you continue, your eyes begin to water, but you quickly wipe them away, hoping Optimus didn't notice.
Optimus hums to himself in thought, mulling over your words. “I appreciate your concern Y/N, but I am alright. My leadership position does sway my reactions, but I assure you I do still feel these things. It is of no help to us to wallow in these emotions, so I often put them towards finding solutions. Do not take me saying this the wrong way; I deeply appreciate your concern for my wellbeing, but there are more pressing concerns at hand.” He says as he begins to leave the main town, heading towards the open Nevada desert.
“Optimus, I’m just worried about you. You always put the world on your shoulders, but that burden isn’t yours alone. Just, let me be there for you, okay?” Optimus hums yet again, this time gently tightening your seatbelt in a makeshift hug. “Alright, (Y/N). As long as you will do the same.” You smile and nod, turning to look out the window as the sun gently sets behind the plateaus. "I'll try."
As the two of you continue heading towards the base, Optimus gets an alert from Ratchet. “Optimus, Starscream is closing in on your location rapidly. It seems he has several vehicon seekers with him. I am sending a groundbridge to your location now with reinforcements." Optimus then begins to unbuckle you and open his passenger door. "Understood. I will be sending (Y/N) through to you once everyone has come through."
As the flash of the green and blue portal arrives, so does Starscream and his seeker unit. "Oh what a pleasant surprise to find you out with one of your precious little pets." The seeker then quickly transforms, flipping and landing on his pedes. Wait, does he have heels? "Keep them out of this, Starscream!" After making sure you were a safe distance away from him, Optimus transformers and moves to block you from the seeker's sight. "(Y/N), get to the groundbridge!" Before he could finish his sentence, you were already sprinting towards the groundbridge. You knew better than to become a liability to the bots. "You don't have to tell me twice!"
The bots quickly get to work, fending off the vehicons and Starscream. Blaster shots and the clashing of metal quickly becomes all you can hear as you continue to sprint towards the groundbridge, you turn your head to see what is happening behind you. You notice the majority of the clones have been taken care of already, only to feel a clawed servo grasp you tightly. One of the vehicons somehow got past the bots, picking you off the ground and ready to flee with you. You scream out in fear and pain as you feel the sharp tips of its fingers dig into your side. You know they haven't pierced the skin very deep, but you can feel the blood sticking to your shirt.
"(Y/N)," Optimus roars as he quickly slays the vehicon trapping you, but before he could get you out of the clone's grasp, Starscream snatches you with a cocky smirk on his face. "Missing something, Prime? Well they are mine now." The seeker taunts, waving your body above his own head. He then transforms with you getting tossed into his cockpit, as he avoids Arcee and Bumblebee's incoming attacks. "Get back here you coward," Bulkhead shouts with his blasters aimed at the seeker, but making no move to fire.
As Starscream begins flying away from the bots, you start struggling against his seatbelt. "Let go of me you over grown toaster oven!" You scream, kicking and hitting Starscream's interior as hard as you physically can. "Stop your squirming, fleshling!" He tightens his belt straps to try and stop you, making you wheeze for a moment. You take a second to look for the bots below, noticing that they are following as best they can from below. "I won't stop until you let me go and return me to the Autobots!" With that said, you finish your response with one more swift kick, causing Starscream to screech.
Coming down and transforming to hold you, Starscream brings you to his face only to turn when he hears the sound of the Autobots transforming and aiming their blasters at him. "Frag," he mumbles under his breathe as he holds you out in front of him like a meat shield. Which is honestly pathetic, you think to yourself. He's impossibly bigger than you and yet he uses your tiny little body to protect himself? Coward.
"Put the human down, Starscream." Optimus calls out, taking a small step forward only to freeze when Starscream shifts his hold on you. His slender digit moving away to aim at your throat. "One more step Prime, and I will squash your precious fleshy." You try again to squirm out of his grip, kicking and pushing against him as best you can. This causes him to nick your throat, but you don't let that stop you. You need to distract him enough for the bots to be able to knock him out and grab you. "Hold still you blasted vermin!"
As Starscream diverts his gaze, Optimus cues Arcee to sneak around. Quietly, she slinks off to the side and approaches the seeker from the rear. He's still trying to get you under control when Arcee reaches his right side, readying herself to grab you and go. When she launches forward, Starscream turns towards the movement he noticed beside him. This causes Arcee to collide with Starscream's servo, making him drop you on reflex.
You scream as you plummet to the ground, terrified as it swiftly approaches. You had to be falling from at least 15 feet off the ground, maybe more. Everyone dove to reach you, but no one was close enough to grasp you. Soon enough your feet hit the ground, causing your knees to bend and lean forward. Your upper body follows suit, barely giving you enough time to throw your arms in front of your face to cushion your fall. Now, you were no stranger to injuries; especially growing up as a bit of a klutz. You’ve gotten your fair share of bruises, breaks, cuts, gashes, maybe even a few stitches, but this is hell. The cracking sound and red hot flash of pain were quick and excruciating, causing you to scream out a blood curdling cry.
Your scream and the cracking that sounded from your body colliding with the ground shakes the bots to their very spark. They make their way to you all as everyone opens fire on Starscream, to which he takes off in hopes to avoid the beating he would surely get. Your injuries miraculously remained internal from what Optimus could see, but he and the team could tell it was severe. The way your legs were laying were all wrong. "Ratchet," Optimus calls out over the comms. "Bridge Ms.Darby here immediately, (Y/N) is heavily injured and I do not feel it is wise for us to move her."
Luckily June was able to arrive very quickly, only taking 15 minutes to arrive with Ratchet. "Optimus, what happened?!" June calls out, carefully instructing Jack on how to help (Y/N)'s legs onto the bright orange slide board while she move their upper body. Optimus responds solemnly, "She was dropped from Starscream's grasp before anyone could catch her." He can truly read the severity of the situation even more as he sees June's face grimace thinking about it. "It's not your fault, guys." You call out, gritting your teeth as you speak.
"That's like falling from a second story window! We need to get her to the hospital immediately and check for a brain bleed. I don't see any major damage to her neck or head right now, but that doesn't mean there isn't anything internal. Jack, dear, please pass me the bandage wraps." She then quickly uses what she has available to her to dress your wounds, wrapping your side to make sure it doesn't start bleeding again. From there she moves to make a splint for your right leg, then moving to your left when the first was deemed good enough. After your legs were splinted, she carefully straps them in, making sure not to exacerbate the injuries.
She then has Jack help her lift you onto the stretcher, carefully wheeling you into the back. "I promise, I'll be okay." You tell Optimus, trying your best not to pass out. He can't bring himself to respond as June closes the back and Ratchet leads everyone back into base. That way a separate groundbridge closer to the hospital could be opened, which Ratchet quickly sped through with his sirens blaring.
The base quickly becomes hollow for the next few weeks as (Y/N) recovers. The kids can tell how badly your accident has scared the bots, especially Optimus. They hardly see him walking around anymore, outside of getting updates from Ms.Darby when he visits the hospital or she visits him. "She is doing amazing, Optimus. Her injuries are getting better, though she won't be walking for quite awhile. She is actually planning on coming to the base this week." This gets Optimus to actually look at her for what felt like the first time in a month. "Is she well enough to be transported? You said she sustained quite a large amount of injuries."
"Yes, Optimus, I am sure she is good for transport. Her heel bones are going to take the longest to heal, but the damage she has sustained to her fibulas were both clean fractures. The real miracle is how little damage she sustained to her tibulas, pelvis, and spine. She got a hairline fracture near the top of her tibulas and minor fractures in her pelvis. Her spine somehow had no injuries whatsoever. That means as long as her legs heal properly, she will be able to walk again and has little risk of being paralyzed." The kids breath a sigh of relief after he informs them of your condition. They celebrate knowing you'll finally be back at the base soon!
The next day, June arrives in a van that she carefully parks inside the base. A small ramp then extends out from beneath the large sliding door. As it pops into place, she opens the door for you to wheel yourself out from with a large smile on your face. "Oh my gosh, is it good to be back and out of that stuffy hospital!" The kids and Bee quickly surround you, making quite a lot of noise for your return. Miko shouts out, "Sweet wheels, (Y/N). Can you do any tricks?" Cutting into the conversation, Ratchet says, "She's still quite injured, Miko. Now is not the time to ask-" "Actually, Miko, I have been practicing wheelies while the doctors and nurses weren't looking. Wanna see what I can do?"
With that, the kids and Bee nod enthusiastically. You slowly roll back, then swiftly roll forward and lift the front two wheels off the ground for a moment. Carefully coming back down, or at least as best you can. This earns you some cheers, but you can tell June is unimpressed and will be telling your doctor and attendings about this.
After the kids questions have simmered down you begin to look around. You finally notice Optimus in the back corner with a small, almost broken smile on his face. "Hey, Optimus, I told you I'd be okay!" You say, rolling your way over to him. "I may not be able to walk this off yet, but I'll get there soon enough." He nods, though you can tell he's still not convinced. "Hey, can we talk in your room?" His only response is yet another nod as he cautiously picks up you and your wheelchair.
As the door to his room shuts, he finally lets his shoulders fall slightly and sets you down lightly. "Optimus?" "(Y/N), may I hold you?" The softness to his voice almost breaks you. You nod and allow him to gently raise you from your seated position on your wheelchair. You remind him to carefully raise your legs and avoid the casts as much as possible. He does as instructed and brings you up to his face, giving you a kiss on your head. You blink in shock and smile widely, kissing him back before you could get nervous and stop yourself. "I was so worried while you were away. I was beginning to believe you would never return."
The vulnerability in Optimus' voice was bringing you to tears, so you gently attempt to hold his face. "I promised you I would come back and be okay. I never break my promises. Not now, not ever." The seriousness in your voice was clear, making the Prime truly smile. "I know, Sweetspark. That does not stop me from worrying about your wellbeing when I am unable to help you." Again, he kisses your head like he's trying to remind himself that you are here. You blush at the nickname. "I'm not going anywhere, Optimus. I will stay with you, right here and now for as long as you need."
"But what if I asked you to stay with me forever?" "Then I will stay forever with you, my love."
(I hope you all enjoyed! This was one of my more inspired fics, so it took a lot longer for me to write than usual. I hope it turned out well! I apologize there wasn't a lot of Optimus 'keeping vigil' of the reader, but I made sure that he was checking up on her constantly.)
Honestly I love fics where it's a Spidey in Gotham. I love thinking about, but you know what else I love?
Angst and found family. I mean go ahead and read what I write, I physically cannot seem to write happine-anyways!
Do you know how much Batman (Bruce) wants to find out Spidey's identity. Are they a meta-an alien, another Clark situation perhaps? What and who exactly are they?
Why do they seem so playful?
He is itching to find out, what if they need to make a contingency plan for them? I mean, they shoot webs for gods sake! And lift way heavier than they should. Their healing also seems abnormally fast...
So just imagine with me.
Spidey, stabbed or shot.
Just a really gnarly wound. Their healing isn't working as fast as it should and they've already lost a lot of blood. Their senses are higher than ever and they're too far from home or any safe house.
Fucking shit situation.
And guess what? The big old' Bat had to be in the same alleyway.
The playful façade is slowly slipping as well as there consciousness, in a spur of emotions they take the knife out. A loud scream (and maybe sob) escaping their lips.
Bruce is just like 'WTF?? Are they really just an idiot?'
But it was the object stopping the healing, of course! They had just been to overwhelmed to think properly.
And...now they've fainted.
Great. Just great.
Even after their wound had managed to heal, mostly at least, you still wouldn't wake up.
He carried them into the Batmobile, his hand itched to take of that mask.
Literally twitching, he needs to know. But he doesn't.
He doesn't take it off, and that is something. The mask stays on, it's not like he could prove it to them when they wake up but 🤷♀️
It's trust
After they wake up, confused, they still check if your mask stayed on.
Being concerned about your identity after losing that much blood spoke volumes.
And now you both just sat there, this man had told them that they were a nuisance almost every chance he got and now he was taking you to the Batcave-wait the Batcave??

call of duty: johnny 'soap' mactavish x female!reader
summary: the op was doomed from the start—bad intel, no exfil, rain falling so hard it drowned the last of your hope. crouched behind the husk of a car, bleeding and low on ammo, you were ready to make peace with whatever came next.
and then he showed up.
setting: an urban warzone gone to hell—thick rain, ruined buildings, and a stalled mission with no support in sight. the only cover is a burnt-out car, and the only ally comes in hot with a mouth full of cheek and a heart steadier than you'd expect.
note: for the ones that meet in the middle of the storm, bruised and bleeding and half-laughing anyway—for the first spark in the darkest hour.
also: men with accents who flirt in firefights should come with a warning label.
my inbox is always open for anyone ♡♡
˚ ✦ . . ˚ . . ✦ ˚ . ★⋆.
the op was a shitshow from the second the chopper blades cut through the sky.
rain slicked the streets in silver, pouring down in sheets so thick you could barely see past your rifle. the recon had been off—wrong coordinates, heavier resistance than intel claimed, and now you were stranded with a comms blackout and half the squad scattered or worse.
you were bleeding. you were pissed. and you were out of options.
the burnt-out husk of a sedan had become your shelter, your cover, your coffin if things went further south. the side panel was warm against your back from all the gunfire it had absorbed, and your left arm stung like hell from a graze wound that was bleeding more than you liked.
you gritted your teeth and ejected your mag, cursing under your breath. just three rounds left.
and then—footsteps.
fast. heavy. not panicked.
you turned your rifle toward the sound, finger steady on the trigger.
a figure skidded around the corner of the crumbled building ahead, ducked low, face half-obscured by grime and a soaking balaclava.
“friendly!” the man barked out, hands raised as he dove into cover beside you with a practiced roll. “fuckin’ hell, yer still breathin’. wasn’t expectin’ that.”
you eyed him warily. “name.”
he yanked the mask off with one hand, revealing a rain-soaked mohawk and a cocky grin that somehow survived all the chaos.
“soap. soap mactavish. here tae pull yer arse out the fire, bonnie.”
you blinked at him.
he grinned wider. “ye always this dramatic on first dates?”
“you always this annoying in a firefight?” you shot back.
“aye,” he said, pulling out a field bandage. “keeps me grounded.”
he nodded at your arm. “yer bleedin’. let me help.”
you hesitated—just a beat too long.
he noticed, but didn’t push. just reached into his vest, slow and calm, and tossed you the bandage instead.
“yer call. won’t lay a hand on ye unless ye say so.”
it wasn’t what you expected. neither was the way his voice softened at the edges, still threaded with humor but careful, like he knew the difference between pain and pride.
you took the bandage. started wrapping with one hand, poorly. he watched in silence for a second, then offered again:
“lemme hold it steady, aye? promise I won’t cock it up.”
you let him.
his fingers were warm, steady despite the adrenaline in the air.
“we’ve got evac,” he said quietly after a beat. “exfil’s aboot two clicks east. can ye walk?”
“i can limp.”
“good. i’ll shoot anyone who stares too long at yer stride.”
you snorted despite yourself. “smooth.”
“aw, sweetheart—this is me bein’ polite. ye’ve no idea what smooth looks like yet.”
When a mission goes sideways, you and Bucky find yourselves holed up in a cramped safe house with no backup, no extraction, and no space - not even to breathe. You're injured, he's worried, and the tension is thick with more than just adrenaline.
There's only one bed. One blanket. One long night.
You're not sure what's more dangerous - the HYDRA agents outside, or the feelings threatening to surface inside.
644 words
The safe house was smaller than expected - one room, a barebones kitchenette, and a bathroom with a door that didn't close all the way. You dropped your bag onto the couch - the only other seating besides the floor - and let out a sharp breath.
Bucky was pacing near the window, checking the blinds every few seconds. "Still clear," he muttered, more to himself than to you. His jaw was set, his fingers locked in that tense, coiled posture that meant he was wound too tight to rest.
Your shoulder burned from where the bullet had grazed you, the fabric of your sleeve now sticky with dried blood. You winced and tried to roll it out. "Good," you said, trying for casual. "Maybe we can actually relax."
Bucky turned. "Relax? You got shot?"
He crossed the room in three long strides. Before you could wave him off, he was already reaching for your arm, inspecting the torn fabric. His touch was gentler than you expected. "Should've let me check this earlier."
You sighed, resigning yourself to the inevitable. "It's just a scratch, Buck. Barely grazed me."
"Doesn't look like just a scratch." He didn't wait for more protest. "Sit. Don't argue."
You sat with a huff, unbuttoning your shirt and sliding it off your injured arm. "Wasn't arguing, nurse."
You caught the way his eyes briefly flicked to your bare shoulder before he cleared his throat. His fingers were cold and careful, dabbing at the wound with antiseptic that stung worse than the bullet itself. "Sorry," he murmured when you flinched.
Once it was wrapped, he looked up, his expression unreadable. "That should hold."
"I'm fine," you said. "I'll rest when we're extracted. Gotta stay awake in case someone followed us."
He didn't love that answer. You could tell from the way his jaw clenched.
"You're not invincible," he muttered. "But fine. Just let me keep an eye on you. I'd rather not drag your unconscious ass outta here."
You smirked. "Good luck with that. I haven't been in one piece in a long time."
Bucky gave a low chuckle. "Guess I'll just have to work harder to keep you together, then."
He eased onto the couch beside you, careful not to jostle your arm. "You don't have to do this alone, you know. Not anymore."
"I've been doing this for decades, Buck," you muttered. "I can handle myself. But... I appreciate the help."
There was a pause. Then - quietly - "I care about you."
You blinked. "You... care about me?"
His cheeks flushed. He ran a hand through his hair, suddenly the most awkward version of himself.
"Yeah. I know I didn't make it obvious. Back then I was still... figuring things out. Didn't really know how to show anything."
"Well, you didn't."
"I know."
You shifted uncomfortably on the couch, trying to avoid the sudden weight of everything hanging in the air. The silence turned thick, heavy. You couldn't meet his eyes.
"Yeah. Gotcha," you murmured. "Just - damn, my arm hurts."
Bucky inched closer, brows furrowing. "Let me help you get comfortable."
"I'm okay," you said. "Just need a minute."
He nodded, gently draping the blanket over your legs. Then, hesitantly, he opened an arm to you. A silent invitation.
You tucked yourself into his side without a word.
He wrapped his arm around you slowly, carefully avoiding your shoulder. "You take all the time you need. I'm not going anywhere."
The safe house was silent. You could hear his heart beating beneath your ear.
"Buck?" you said after a while, voice small in the dark.
"Yeah?"
"I care about you too. I just... can't think straight right now. Between the pain and the adrenaline and everything else." You paused. "That make sense?"
He didn't answer at first.
Then his thumb brushed over your arm. "Yeah," he said softly. "Makes perfect sense to me."
when you no longer need your live-in doctor, you find you desperately want him to stay.
you were absolutely fuming when the unsub shot you. just one, clean through the shoulder, that caused you to fall in a twist down the stairs, spraining your ankle. the chances of both of those events occurring had to be low, and spencer assured you of the statistics to back that theory up. just bad luck. fuming.
unfortunately, it also meant your life was substantially difficult to navigate while healing. you could barely shower, cook food, unlock doors, get changed. in fact it wasn’t ‘barely’, you just couldn’t. so the natural solution was to have your best friend move in with you while you were out of action entirely.
“it’s no big deal.” he shrugged. your best friend that you harboured secret feelings for, shrugged. no big deal.
there were some challenges.
“spencer,” you huffed for the tenth time that morning, “i am not swallowing those gross fish vitamins.”
he tutted at you, “they’re cod, and they’re going to help your sprain recover. valid studies have shown-”
awkwardly, you stood and used your uninjured arm to jab him in the chest, “i don’t care if they would grow me a whole new bone, they’re gross.”
it was weeks like that, when he wasn’t on cases. harmless bickering as he fussed over you like a newborn. but despite your teasing, you were not looking forward to the day he’d be moving back into his own apartment. it was nice, having someone to come home to. it took the sting out of the loneliness you felt, and you weren’t delusional for thinking he felt that way too. as your casts and slings were eased off, the both of you looked rather dejected, confusing the nurse tending to you greatly.
spencer nudged your good shoulder, “now you can help me box up my things.”
you’d gotten used to his things, though. his aftershave in the bathroom, his chess set by the couch. even his supposedly mobile library he’d moved into your apartment. you knew how empty it was going to feel.
in fear of that emptiness, you blurted it out on the car ride home from the hospital, “maybe you should stay a bit longer.”
“yeah?” he briefly took his eyes off the road to raise a brow at you, “you think you still need help?”
“i don’t need it.” you mumbled, picking the skin around your cuticles nervously. spencer noticed, and flicked your hands apart as a silent way of telling you not to do that. still taking care of you.
he didn’t push your declaration, just nodding, “okay. how long were you thinking?”
somewhere between a bated breath and a rush of words, you pushed out, “like, forever?”
this time, both his brows jumped and he had to clear his throat to stop his voice from cracking, “really? like roommates?”
no, like lovers, “yes, like roomies. nevermind, it was a stupid idea.”
“i don’t think so. i’d love to be… roomies.” the word sounded strange, too informal, coming from him, and it made you laugh. which made him smile.
after that very spencer-esque conversation, he moved the rest of his material belongings in, and put his flat up on listings. it sold fast, and you had to wonder why he’d agreed so rapidly, considering his place was notably nicer than yours. you had to wonder why he agreed at all, though it didn’t come as a surprise to anyone else that you hadn’t been able to separate. and the rest unfolded like one of the rom-coms you forced him to watch.
you no longer needed him to wash your hair over the side of the bath, which had at first been annoying because he did not wash the conditioner out properly. but now you missed it; it had become almost a bonding experience. that became true of a lot of things you’d adjusted to in the past months. him helping you into bed, you playing the wounded card to make him watch your shows on tv.
one thing that hadn’t changed was the sheer amount of card games you two played. you knew spencer was always going to win, but you tortured yourself with it anyway. one night, you were splitting the deck as you announced, “i’ve got a new game. it’s called rummy version two.”
before he could explain all the deviations rummy had from its origin over the years, making your game not a second version but at least an eighth, you rushed on to outline the rules. you were completely making it up as you went along, and continued adding to it as you played. it was impossible for you to lose, and spencer quickly figured out that you were bullshitting. for a profiler, you had a terrible poker face.
“you’re making this up.” he stated, putting his cards down.
you leant over the table, now able to rest pressure on your arm, and challenged, “prove it.”
there was a thick tension that had arisen suddenly between the pair of you, though the more you thought, the less sudden it seemed. maybe it had been building for a while. like the blush steadily rising to his cheeks as you got slightly closer to his face.
he smirked, “you’re winning.”
“rude. that doesn’t mean i’m-”
what it didn’t mean, spencer never got to hear, because it was at that moment he surged forward to close the remaining distance between your lips. you almost fell when you two collided, but his grip had attached to your upper arm to steady you. his kiss did not relent, demanding and speaking of all the impatience he’d felt recently. you responded likewise, threading your hands into his curls as soon as you got your balance, barely breaking for breath.
spencer’s skin on yours was something you had thought about more than you cared to admit, and with the fervour he was kissing you with, you thought he might’ve experienced the same. he was almost desperate against you, hands trailing to smooth over any section of exposure he could find, before one rested on the side of your face, and the other on your thigh.
“spencer,” you gasped, pulling away to catch air in your lungs, “need to breathe.”
he nodded as though he’d forgotten that, mimicking your heavy breaths, but not taking his hands off you. you rested your forehead against his and blinked. it was starting to sink in, the line you’d just crossed together.
“do we have to tell hotch about this?” you suddenly asked.
spencer frowned, “why are you thinking about hotch right now?”
you laughed and kissed him again, quickly this time, “you’re right, let’s just…”

YOUR POV
I had gone to school this morning in a rush so as not to be late. But alas luck was not on my side today
Because I ended up being over 20 minutes late to class and with the rain I hadn’t seen a light pole and ran right into it thus cracking one of my glasses lenses in a spiderweb fashion now rendering my left eye useless and my vision doubled
I sprinted through the halls to my class and was fortunately able to slip in undetected before attendance was even called only to be grossly hit on by the classroom’s resident greasy sleaze ball nice guy upon my immediate entrance.
“Well well m’lady will you finally go out with me or be a fool and go out with some jerk?”
“I-I’m sorry I/C/N I’m just… not interested in you.”
“Wow you’re so rude L/N and I’ve been sooo nice to you”
I just avoided eye contact and just went to a nice darker corner of the room to get away from him and pray for the day to end without another absolute travesty happening again
But alas
This was not the case
“YYYYYYYYY/NNNNNNNNNNNNNN-CHAAAAAAAAAAAN!”
Of course Tooru fucking Oikawa had to come bursting in to the one class I had with the greasy incel
“What do you need Oikawa-San?”
“Y/N-chan we are having an extra practice next class and I thought I would come to tell you!”
“IS THIS WHY YOU WON’T GO OUT WITH ME?!? BECAUSE YOU’RE WITH HIM?!?!”
“I/C/N it’s not-“
“SO I’M JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU?!?!”
“SHUT UP CAN’T YOU SEE I’M TRYING TO TALK TO THE MANAGER OF OUR VOLLEYBALL TEAM?!?!”
“Anyway Y/N-chan you’re free to join us at anytime but maybe you’ll wanna come early? We’re thinking of also planning a team bonding activity”
I realized I had a choice to go and join them when the teacher looked at me and nodded her head
“Of course I’ll help!”
And of course riiiiiiiiiiight when I got up and got to where Oikawa that nasty incel started screaming out a bunch of incoherent curses and… interesting expletives
Thankfully Oikawa had speedily put his hand to my lower back and escorted me out
“You deal with that everyday?”
“Yeah but it’s fine. As long as I ignore him there’s no worry”
“That doesn’t change that he’s being creepy and you shouldn’t have to deal with that”
“Just drop it Oikawa-san I can’t have you worrying about something that might cloud your mind”
TIME SKIP TO PRACTICE
“Alright boys I want all of you to go run to the track, run 2 laps and run back to build your endurance” the coach said while very specifically looking at Kyotani and as if to say ‘if you so much as get a scrape competing against each other I’ll skin you alive’
“Pardon my interruption coach but may I also run with the team? I’m trying to build my lung capacity for band again”
“Sure just make sure to keep an eye on Oikawa and Kyotani and not get lost”
And with that we were off
I put one headphone in and started jogging. At first I was at the middle of the pack but I steadily made my way to the front and when I finally made my way to the front I started running faster up the slope that would take us to the track.
By the time we finished the first lap out of my right ear I heard fast and thundering footsteps only to see Kyotani trying to sprint past me in order to assert his dominance but I sped up to double the pace of my music before starting my breathing technique for running thus officially leaving everyone in the dust.
I did not however account for Oikawa wanting to assert his dominance over Kyotani and Oikawa started SPRINTING not to catch up with me but to beat Kyotani. There was uh…one problem though.
Oikawa was EXTREMELY fast and had long legs (longer than mine like sheesh) I was worried he was gonna get hurt by trying to outrun everyone and right as he was finally catching up to me and about to pass me I started screaming “SLOW DOWN OIKAWA YOU’RE GONNA HURT YOURSELF AGAIN”
He IMMEDIATELY stopped running and only decided to run next to me and keep my pace since I already had out run the whole ass team and had lapped half the team
There was just one problem
The song changed to be faster
Like 30 BPM faster
So as the tempo changed in the music the tempo in my feet changed
“Y/N-CHAAAAAAAN SLOW DOWN I CAN’T KEEP UUUUUUUP”
“Sorry Oikawa but I gotta keep pace with my music for my training!”
He never caught all the way up to me but he stayed close behind
Which was a curse and a blessing for what I didn’t know what was coming
Because right after we got off the track I got my foot stuck in a hole and twisted my knee as I fell
“Y/N-CHAN!!”
“I’m okay Oikawa i just fell is all” which was true but I had to down play my injury in order to get better all around and to keep helping the team
“NO YOU’RE NOT YOU CAN’T FOOL ME! YOUR KNEE IS NOT OKAY! WE NEED TO GET YOU TO THE INFIRMARY!”
“I’m okay! Really! I can walk see?”
I then stand up only for my knee to betray me and give out
“Y/N”
He then runs to my side as I’m on the ground trying to quickly re-adjust my knee so it at least looks normal to make sure Oikawa doesn’t worry which could lead to me not being able to participate
“OH MY GOD Y/N ARE YOU OK?!?!?!”
“I-I’m ok I just need a few seconds to get up and walk it off is all-“
And of fucking course fucking Kindaichi catches up with us and that piece of shit of course calls out:
“HOLY SHIT L/N-SENPAI WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR KNEE IT’S ALL BENT OUT OF SHAPE”
So now there’s all this yelling because of Kindaichi’s panic call out and this of course brings on a new wave of panicked screaming from Oikawa and a now frantic Iwaizumi charging towards me
“It’s ok I-I’ll be fine I can walk it off. I always do I’m fine”.
“OI WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN?” Oh of course Iwaizumi jumps into this mess
of course Oikawa jumps back into this and it becomes apparent that he’s not giving up on this and I realize there might not be an out for this.
and finally after what seemed like ages Oikawa comes back to me but with Iwaizumi this time
“Y/N I’m going to pick you up by your armpits and Oikawa is gonna help me get you back to the gym ok?”
“I’ll be fine Iwaizumi-san I can make it back fine”
“Nope we’re carrying you. Actually I’m going to relocate your knee so you’ll be in less pain”
“Nonononononononono I’ll be ok really I just need to not be a baby and walk it off.”
“Oi Shittykawa hold her still so I can do this ok”
Oikawa crouched down near me and wrapped his arms around my upper body and as Iwaizumi was putting my knee back in place, Oikawa decided that I needed a stronger distraction than just a surprise hug from behind
And so he decides to dig his fingers into my ribs and starts plucking at them like an electric guitar and nuzzling my cheek with his nose
“Y/N-chan! What kind of captain would I be if I let our precious manager be hurt! And besides you’re always there for us so it’s only fair that we’re here for you!”
He of course moves his hands from my ribs to my tummy and that made it worse and made me squirm more than I had before and on top of that my laughter went from just barely held back giggles to full blown belly laughter
That gave Iwaizumi his chance to fix my knee and while I was distracted he got my leg and readjusted it at the knee, but as he was snapping my knee back to the correct position Oikawa went down to my hips and started scribbling there with his nails and I went WILD
“Awwww how cute! Your laugh is so pretty! I could just eat you up! Coochie coochie coo! Tickle tickle tickle tickle tickle~!”
“Oi Shittykawa I’m done you can stop now”
“Come now Iwa-chan are you hearing her laughing? She never laughs! And she’s so cute!”
“We have to get her back to the club room so her knee can get checked out by the nurse”
“Awww ok.” And he pouts and lets me go as my giggles finally die down and I try to get up but quickly get pulled back to the ground only to immediately be picked up again princess style by Oikawa.
Timeskip~
I had been taken back to the club room and the nurse had confirmed that on top of the dislocation of my knee I must have dislocated my meniscus and will need a brace as well as crutches for a week or 2.
“But will I be able to march?”
“I’m afraid not my dear for 2 weeks”
I was about to pipe in calling bullshit only to be cut off by Oikawa:
“It’s ok Y/N-Chan you have us to help you! Besides I’ve dealt with something similar before as you know so I can give you some tips and tricks too.” He says as he wraps his arms around me and nuzzles into my neck affectionately
I immediately get flustered by this and the nurse pipes in
“I-I’ll step out for a second so you 2 can have a moment to process”
Smooth. Real smooth
“Now that we’re alone I want to ask you something Y/N-chan. Just hear me out ok?”
“O-ok”
“I know we’ve known each other since early-ish middle school and that’s a long time, but I want to ask you something, will y-you go on a date with me Y/N-chan? I know this seems sudden but it’s been sitting for a while and I couldn’t just let it wither away in my brain. but If it already wasn't obvious to you Y/N-chan I've really liked you for some time and there’s no way I can live without you by my side. Every waking moment I’m with you it feels like a dream that I never want to wake up from”
“A-are you s-saying y-you l-like me O-Oikawa-san?”
“Yes Y/N-chan I do. More than that actually.” He says as he gently takes my hands in his and looks directly at me in my E/C eyes and smiled warmly. “It’s actually quite interesting how you didn’t notice~”
“I had no idea you felt that way. Considering you could have any girl you want and-”
“Y/N I swear to God if you say that you’re not good enough I might actually scream.”
“Oikawa-san! You can’t cuss! Hypocrite!”
Then he stuck his tongue out at me and blew a raspberry as he crossed his arms too.
“I didn’t use dirty language though! But on a separate note you better not say you’re good enough for me~”
“Ok but when you have creeps like I/C/N hitting on you and no one else then it gives that impression.”
“Ewwwww how dare he. I’m still jealous because there are boys from the baseball team who hit on you. Like just cause you can hit a ball with a stick doesn’t mean you’re good enough for Y/N-chan”
“What do you mean ‘good enough for me’? I’m not good enough looking for that high of a standard.”
“Look I love you and everything but you are painfully oblivious. A LOT of boys look at you. And you should have better standards because your looks? Stunning. Your personality is amazing too”
He walked over to me again and looked at me.
“But you ha-”
And he kisses me
“Oikawa-”
“Sorry Y/N-chan I couldn’t let you keep saying that stuff about yourself”
He just shrugs after that whole bombshell drop and sits down next to me on the bed and puts me on his lap
“Hey careful of the brace!”
“I know I know. And weren’t you the one telling me to be careful about mine~”
“Sh-shut up” I said getting flustered
“You know you love me~”
1 WEEK LATER…
“Alrighty boys you’ll be running up the hill to the track, 2 laps around the track and back down again. Except you L/N because you’re injured.”
“Awwwww come on coach I think I can do it! Pleeeeeease?
Then Oikawa piped in with the rich statement of:
“L/N you remember the doctor telling you to stay off it for 3 weeks and be on crutches for that time”
“Well I feel fine so screw it. A week is enough for me.”
“How about this coach, since I myself have been having problems with my knee I’ll stay back with her to make sure she doesn’t try anything sneaky.”
Iwaizumi had taken this as his chance to chime in:
“Wow shittykawa is doing something mature for once and taking care of himself at the same time”
And with that they were off
I had tried to get up as they were leaving when Oikawa had looked away for just a second
But
I did not succeed
“Hey where are you going you goofball?” Oikawa said as he grabbed onto my hips and pulled me into his lap this undoing my work to stand up again.
“Y-you can’t keep me down for long Oikawa!”
“Yes I can darling~just watch” as he finished saying that he put me between his legs and put them over mine to prevent me from standing again
“Oh and just for good measure to make sure you can’t escape~” he had grabbed both my wrists with one hand and started tickling me in all my weak areas on my tummy, sides, ribs etc.
“Oh look at that it seems my little Y/N-chan can’t move~ too bad she tried to fight me earlier forgetting I’m bigger in both weight and height.”
