Quickest way to type chemical reaction, chemical equation, reaction arrows in Word (2007 & above)
Writing chemical equation in Word is too boring and time consuming job. However MS Word now have a shortcut way to insert chemical equation or type chemical equation and is similar to LaTeX (which is considered as best software for typing equation / chemical reaction). However for sake of completeness, I have mentioned all the 3 ways to type chemical equation in Ms Word. It is up to to decide which one suits you best.
There are 3 ways to type chemical equation or chemical reaction in Word 2016.
GUI: This method is good only if you have few chemical equation. As it requires constant movement of hand from keyboard and mouse. Even for typing simple thing like H_2 , we have to go to insert tab and then symbols or script tab.
Ink Equation: This is good if you have touch enables screen (Tablet, Stylus or touch screen) and you enjoy scribbling/drawing. This method converts hand written drawn equation in scribbling pad into equation. However, if you are using mouse then you will have to correct lot. Hence not recommended for typing equitation with mouse. Also with stylus it will be difficult and not the fastest, if you enjoy you can use it.
Math Auto Correct: This method is recommended. Word has a very good feature of Math Auto correct for typing equation/chemical reaction in MS Word. There is shortcut for typing subscript/superscript, arrows, write above arrows, write below arrows. For e.g. to type H_2 just type H_2 and space. There are more such shortcut.
