Autism in lockdown
With a compromised immunity and cerebral palsy I am high risk Covid_19, made difficult because I have autism. After 2 months of lockdown I feel I am finally adjusting better.
Until I am able to make the connections there is no joined up thinking. With our liberty having being been snatched away, my regular autistic routine has slowly been replaced with a different routine that I have again had to adapt to.
Lockdown and autism don’t work well together. Being told by the World Heath Organisation (‘WHO’) the virus is here to stay, is not resting comfortably. The UK’s government’s handling of the virus, means the virus is adding to my stress that and the fact that I am ‘high risk.’
I will be confined to my home for many months to come, even after lockdown is officially ended. Even something like going to the hairdressers will have to be meticulously planned, so I have little contact with others.
I find everyone being in the same position as me even more difficult. If this was just my issue, through my intuition I would find a way through to solve it. I would alter the outcome in an attempt to make it better.
With a pandemic that is out of my control, also having and managing an already compromised immunity, with cerebral palsy and autism, makes the pandemic feel very scary.
