Alice almost wants to say more. To explain that Saga will get out of here, has to get out of here, has already gotten out of here — but she’s learned that the less you say, the safer you are.
That and she’s still holding onto the notion that she shouldn’t be screwing this loop up any further. Alice leaving the apartment, their meeting like this, is a sign of how far off course this round has gotten. It’s already a wash, but she’s still afraid of making it worse.
Saga’s right, though. Sticking together now is likely the best option. The only option, really, unless she leaves the other woman to fend for herself out here. Too risky. Too many ways for things to go even more wrong. Alice nods, adjusts her grip on her camera — flash mounted, just in case the shadows start getting any ideas.
“The fountain was supposed to be the way out,” Alice says like an apology. “I’m not sure why it isn’t, if something happened or the Overlap just isn’t… overlapping. But there must be another way.”
