im sorry to be such a hater about the conservative movement at all times but their commitment to constantly singling out converts is pissing me off so bad. this shul is in the rabbi search process rn (again lol) and they're doing a bunch of focus groups to "make sure that all the parts of the community are represented"...and one of the focus groups is "jews by choice and conversion candidates" 😐 first of all why would i as a convert have such uniquely different concerns to other people in the community? second of all, and maybe this is harsh, but conversion candidates are just that—candidates. why do they have a say in the rabbi search?
#p.s.#in general they way they have set up the focus groups is so annoying. like none of them are mixed groups they're all specific demographics#which is fine ig but the categories are just....#so what im having to choose between 'converts' and 'young adults' and 'lgbt people' ??#insane work.#also the young adult one seems to be on shabbos for some reason??#so ig im going to the one for lgbt people. which again it's like why are we singling us out 🙄#whatever i'll go anyways just to be the token religious extremist in the room#i think its just extra annoying bc i literally experience the last rabbi search and they did NOT do it like this#they emailed all members a form to fill out about what they wanted
