mm. maybe i think the big appeal of how orpheus interacts with erinyes in terms of affection (this is especially apparent in inseparability au) is that there's a clear logic path i can decipher in that. yes he does treat his gestures for her like a checklist. yes he is doing it out of marital duty. there are impersonal reasons, and selfish reasons as well. he performs his role as a doting, attentive partner/husband because he knows he enjoys it. it's partially masking? but it gives him some fulfillment because it makes her happy in some shape or form? he doesn't quite have his own basis for "how he would treat his partner" apart from basic manners and decency. he just doesn't really care for that. but he does the extra mile for her anyway. it's convoluted but kinda sweet
