REBEKAH McKENDRY: From Jillian, "what is the biggest difference between working with Stuart Gordon and Brian Yuzna as directors?

JEFFREY COMBS: Wow, very interesting. Well, uh, Stuart Gordon started out as a theater director, so he really knew the language and vocabulary and mindset of actors. And so very much, you know, very comforts on there with Stuart and his background.

Brian, you know, came late to directing. He started out as a producer and then realized "wait a minute, the director's chair is where I want to be." So, uh, Brian was very good at the technical sides of it, uhm, and you know both of them are good friends of mine. Completely different styles. I enjoyed them both, but you know...

ELRIC KANE: Is it like Lovecraft and Poe? Is it that complex, the differences?

JC: It's that complex.

EK: Yeah I figured it would be.

Relativity Film Instructor Interviews Elijah Wood!

Relativity Workshops instructor Elric Kane interviewed A-lister Elijah Wood for the latest installment of his interview show Inside Horror, an project that features Elric interviewing the icons, auteurs and drivers of the horror film genre. Elric was the 2013 Summer Director of the Relativity Workshops Film Program and is a bona-fide horror fanatic with several directorial credits to his name.

In the interview, Elijah Wood discusses horror film Maniac, in which he plays the disturbed owner of a Los Angeles mannequin shop who begins to unleash his violent fantasies. Says Elric on the interview:

Most A-list actors are reticent to discuss being in horror films so the interview can be a bit of a chore for them. That was definitely not the case for Elijah Wood who lives and breathes the genre. He even has his own Horror film production company (SpectreVision).

Behind the scenes we bonded over New Zealand, where he shot Lord of the Rings and where I was raised, and then we discussed indie horror. He is a very cool, down to earth guy who seems to have a genuine passion for filmmaking which is infectious. My only complaint is that like with all celebrities his publicist was rushing him out and I could have chatted film with him for hours.

Elric is no stranger to interviewing celebrities and getting them to spill their guts (pun intended). He has loaned his killer talent to interviewing artists as diverse as John Landis (An American Werewolf in London), Joe Dante (The Howling, Gremlins, Piranha) and Kate Beckinsale (Underworld). When questioned about his dream interview, Elric responds:

My dream interview, which may actually happen soon, is Wes Craven, the director of the original Nightmare on Elm Street. I think that's the most creative horror film ever made and he is so imaginative that I think he would be a great interview. Fingers crossed.
