Kiran hadn’t intended for this to be something for her to become apprehensive over. In fact, it seems odd that she would act so nervous at his request at first. But when he thought about it, what didn’t she have to be nervous about? What could she tell him that wouldn’t come off as shameful or upsetting? -Not that he saw like that it of course, but he was familiar enough with Laevatein’s thought process by now to know that was what she was thinking. From her perspective, the experiences of her life must seem dreadful, or perhaps even pointless. But there was something he wanted to know. Something he felt that he needed to know really, and it was something he’d had trouble bringing up in the past given the nature of the subject. So he supposed that she was right to be worried after all.
Biting his lip, Kiran permits a brief silence to fill the air as he musters up his courage. His long fingers are drumming on his thighs and his gaze is fixed squarely on the empty space before him. After a short time (or rather he hoped it was short) he finally manages to look her in the eye, speaking his request on a nervous breath.
“If...you wouldn’t mind...I’d like to hear a bit about Laegjarn actually.”

STATUS : ACCEPTING !
YOU WILL DO NO SUCH THING , you are well aware and plenty wise to how incommunicable the past is . it would be near - impossible for laevatein to understand / grasp / fathom the things you have seen , and rightfully so . had you the way of the world , you would so quickly make it so you were the only one to know such horrors .
❛ it’s hard to describe to someone who wouldn’t know . ❜ your words beget a well of wisdom you are of no age to possess , but they are not rendered any less because of it . your past can only truly be shared with those who experienced it beside you . they may be gone , but you know no better truth than that . so you cannot explain to laevatien the things you were forced to behold . they would not know them even if you did . ❛ i’ve seen so much … but then , sometimes , it feels like i haven’t seen much of anything at all . ❜
your life was stolen . childhood memories replaced with nightmares , that is no way to remember such formative years . so quickly you understood the evils of this world , it has left you to wonder if being naive would be a better fate . but you cannot even imagine it , because you have never lived like that .
❛ … not the things i’ve wanted to , at least . i’ve seen plenty of things i’d rather forget , but you weren’t there . so even if i told you , you would never truly know … so what’s the point ? ❜

Laevatein of Muspell,
I write to you at the behest of my liege lord, Crown Prince Hrid of Nifl. In the spirit of furthering relations between our kingdoms, he wishes to invite you to his coronation, followed by a conference with my liege, our war council, and representatives from the Kingdom of Askr to begin building the foundation for a lasting peace.
It is not our intention to write off the past, far from it. From one military leader to another, too much blood as been spilt on both sides of the conflict.
I hope you will consider this invitation as an olive branch, and honor my kingdom with your visit.
Commander Ivar of Nifl
Head of the Royal Guard
Shield of the King

i agree with you here. though the reason gustav was the main talking point was because the the people dunking on him are directly affected by his actions via the muses they write. just because surtr is willing to do … all of this … doesn’t put any other parent in feh in a better light. they should all be held accountable regardless of the intensity of their blatant abuse and mistreatment of their children.
//Oh no. Gustav is absolutely awful too, even if he wasn’t as...direct with his actions.
And I mean, IntSys tried to pull off this twist where “Oh he actually cared the whole time but was just putting his duties as a king before his duties as a father.” But that doesn't’ make his attitude any better? If anything it makes it WORSE?? Because, A) plenty of other characters are capable of doing that exact same thing WITHOUT emotionally abusing their children, and B) that implies that KNEW he was being a bad father this whole time and was just??? Still being bad anyway????
insinnerate replied to your post: //I think we can all agree that EVERY parent in...
laegjarn sacrificed herself actually. but surtr does say in his summoned lines that he was ready to off the both of his daughters if they didn’t obey him absolutely. or if they ever forgo their usefulness.
//Yeah, but Surtr put Laegjarn in a position where she had to sacrifice herself though, even if that wasn’t really his intention. And honestly I don’t know which is worse: the fact that he was going to kill one of them to satiate himself or that he didn’t care WHICH of them actually died to do so.
