firstly, they're based off the casket or amontiallo by edgar allen poe,
Montresor is in hell for sealing Fortunato in the wall of the italy catacombs. Aka murder. Hes very manipulative and gets what he wants easily, in the story he drunkened up Fortunato and lead him down the italy catacombs. He constantly said "oh lets go back" knowing DAMN well Fortunato was not going back cause he was to drunk
Fortunato is in hell for being a gluton and overall jackass. In his life he made fun of Montresor. ((Thus the reason this clown died)) So he got chained to a gravel wall and sealed away in the catacombs! He starved to death, His bells represent death, in the story the last thing Montresor hears leaving the catacombs is Fortunatos bells ringing from behind the wall he made
