So you’ve bought a brand new and beautiful premium theme for your Tumblr blog but you’ve no idea how to install Tumblr themes? We’ll help you with that. In this post, we’ll show you exactly how to change a Tumblr theme and install a Tumblr theme from scratch with step-by-step instructions.
Installing a theme from the Tumblr themes directory is fairly an easy process. You just find a theme you like and click on that green Install button. But, the process is different for themes that you buy or download from a third-party marketplace. We’ll get to that in a moment.
First, we’ll show you how to use a theme from the Tumblr themes directory!
Step one: Get the theme code
Tumblr theme code is provided in a number of ways (it should look something like above). It may be hosted on Pastebin or distributed in a text file by the theme maker.
Step two: Copy all the code
Copy New Tumblr Html theme Code
You should highlight all the code contained in the file or website that has the theme code (use the shortcut “ctrl + a” (Windows) or “cmd + a” (Mac OSX), to make sure you get everything).
Then make a copy of the code, either by right clicking on the text then selecting ‘copy’ or by using the shortcut “ctrl + c” or “cmd + c” (Mac OSX).
Step three: Enter the Tumblr customizer
1. Log into Tumblr and click on the ’ human ’ cog icon and Select your blog from the right-hand column.

How To Use Tumblr Themes
Premium themes are much more customizable than free themes. You’ll be able to add sliders, header backgrounds, logos, add widgets, change colors, enable infinite scroll, create tag menus, and much more.

Once your new theme is installed, just click the left arrow and all your new options are available for you to configure your new theme.
How to Install a Custom Page
Copy the code from Pastebin or Github.
Navigate to Edit Theme > Add a Page.
Select Custom Layout from the dropdown menu.
Enter a URL.
Paste in the code you copied from Pastebin or Github.
Customize the page to your liking. You can view the changes made by clicking Update Preview.
Save your changes.
