Page 5. ---- Employers' Cooperation Asked in Turning in of Manpower Cards ---- "The registration of manpower and unemployment insurance is vital to the war effort,” Mr. B. Batsford, inspector of Unemployment Insurance, stated today “and every employer is requested to co-operate to the fullest extent in this matter.”
Mr. Batsford told The Star today that Dr. Allon Peebles of Ottawa, executive director of the Unemployment Insurance Commission, is stressing the urgent necessity of employers securing their new insurance books. This cannot be done until manpower registration forms have been filled in and returned to the commission, and old insurance books have been sent back.
Until the new insurance books are secured, contributions cannot be recorded and the employer is rendered liable for employees contributions. Since this registration is a national undertaking related directly to the war effort, it is of vital importance and every employer is asked to return the cards immediately. This must be completed within the next few days and the co-operation of all employers is therefore requested.
