frankly, ruby didn’t know what she was doing here. usually when she was staying somewhere for an extended amount of time, she still didn’t attend any sort of community events such as bonfire nights. there just wasn’t any need to go and make friends. she was going to move on soon anyway, and any unnecessary attachments were just extra baggage to take with her. yet somehow she’d been drawn to attend this bonfire. she’d parked her car close to all the festivities, but still on a safe distance, and now stood leaning against it watching the people around her mingle. she knew some faces from her job and cloak and stagger, but none that really stood out. not until one particular guy caught her attention. he was familiar, but she was pretty sure she didn’t know him from the bar. she narrowed her eyes at him, staring him down until it finally clicked. ‘car guy!’
