The past three days were a haze. Cora remembered only the significant things, like getting the arrests in and the moment she hit her own bed. She also remembered the shower she took and all the dried blood that washed off of her, none of it her own, thankfully. She knew the fact that she managed to get only bruises from the whole event would make Chandler proud... if he’d wake up.
April personally let Cora know about his status after things calmed down. There was still a lot of damage control, but scanning the reports was one thing, hearing it was another. She’s been given the rest of the week off, not that it was much considering it was already Sunday and Cora would have to report back to work on Monday.
She did finally get the nerve to go to the hospital to see the man, staring through the window like he was a subject for observation. Barely moving other than for the rise and fall of his chest. Cora’s never seen him so beaten, seeing the multiple bandages in the areas at the hospital gown could not cover.
“You can go in if you’d like. He’s not getting many visitors since our family is a little scattered at the moment.”
“Oh, no. I just stopped by for a moment. I have to be somewhere,” Cora quickly came up with.
Felicity tilted her head a little, curious about her brother’s friend. “You sure? His doctor took down his medication dosage. He should be waking up soon. I can at least tell him you stopped by, uhh...”
“Eleanor,” Cora replied, not sure if she should give her first name. “Thanks. I’ll just be going now. Sorry about... uh, your brother.”
“Thanks. I know he’ll be fine. He’s stubborn, or so my sisters say.” Felicity watched as the girl walked away, noting that there was a small healing cut on her neck. She knew that her brother was working for the FBI and was pretty certain Eleanor was too. It just wasn’t her place to press on a stranger as her attention went to Kyle who was walking her way and they made their way back into Chandler’s hospital room, eager to see how coherent he’d be when he wakes up.
