mystic blackout | starter for @tylerbyrne
Now that Olivia had moved into a place of her own, the Mystic Motel had become just another location to investigate rather than a place to call home. With her first case just about closed and a divorce in the works, all the detective needed now was a witness statement. And who better to ask that the inn keeper himself. In the week that she had spent there, Olivia had never seen the lobby so busy — not that the other guest was anything to brag about. It was more so the idea that anyone would willingly stay there unless they absolutely had to. For her, it had been the closest she could get to her person of interest. But for the man waiting in line behind her, she had to wonder who or what had lead him to this conclusion in the first place.
"So do you remember anything about the man in room six? He would have checked out yesterday morning and I wondered if you had remembered seeing anybody else with him,” she continued explaining to the owner. He was middle-aged with a rather unpleasant expression. And frankly, he seemed rather annoyed by the slew of questions Olivia was asking him. Just as the man finally parted his lips to speak, the lights flickered and there was a crack of thunder, followed by complete and utter darkness. Instead of receiving any answers or even some words of reassurance in the power outage, the owner only muttered an expletive before disappearing into a back room.
