It was just another day for the bookshop. Summer was approaching fast, which meant there will be lesser university students patronising the seats and using the cafe as a studying spot. Rather The Hideout would be bustling with social gatherings with afternoon tea sets and fresh baked goods. Ezra and his sisters were already busy at midday and the cash register was already full. He decided to take a break from the counter though and decided to clean up the front. Ezra was clearing some cups when the a comment made his ears perked up. “Yeah this used to be Callaghans’. We just changed it to another concept, but still the same family running the premise,” he explained without turning around. When he did though, Ezra’s heart leapt up to his throat. How long has it been since he last saw her? Probably more than a decade ago... wait, even longer. It was difficult to picture himself as a carefree person then. Too many things have happened between those years. She still looked the same despite the subtlety of age. She was talking to a child - probably 9 or 10 years old. Was that her son? “September? Is that you?”
