GET TO KNOW STEVIE EVANS

Do you have any unusual features or characteristics? My height, I guess. I’ve been told I’m lanky. 

Who is important to you? Friends, family, and co-workers.

Do you have breakfast in morning? I usually try to have something, even if it’s not what most would consider breakfast. A protein shake or bar, a piece of fruit, a bagel, sometimes even a couple of bites of whatever is leftover from the night before. 

Do you wear glasses or contacts? No, I don’t. 

Does you have scars or birthmarks? No, I don’t. 

Are you graceful or clumsy? I would say I’m graceful, given my profession. 

Does you like having people over? Sometimes. I value my space and my alone time, because I got very little of it growing up. But, I don’t mind having people over occasionally.

How do you get along with your boss and coworkers? Well. Considering how much time we spend together, it would be a shame if I didn’t. 

What are some skills or talents do you have? Dance. Writing, I think, too. 

Does your parents accept you as you are? They do. Even if they don’t understand me all the time, they do accept me.

Do you have any unusual features or characteristics? None that I can think of, but I think that’s kind of a subjective question. 

Who is important to you? Who isn’t? I mean, I think people in general are important to me- like, humanity as a whole. But, more specifically, my friends, my family, my patients, my co-workers, my roommates, and my dog. 

Do you have breakfast in morning? I try to have breakfast in the morning. It doesn’t always work mind you, but I do try.

Do you wear glasses or contacts? Maybe. Who’s asking? :P

Does you have scars or birthmarks? I do! I have scars on both my knees from falling onto an air vent when I was about 10. And, I have a few scars on my arms, hands, and thighs from a few different patients. Battle wounds, I call them. 

Are you graceful or clumsy? Ha. Haha. Hahahahahaha. Clumsy, definitely clumsy. 

Does you like having people over? Most of the time, heck yeah! Sometimes I do need a little teensy bit of time to recharge by myself, but I don’t mind having company!

How do you get along with your boss and coworkers? Pretty well. My job is super high stress so there are times when we’re at each others throats, but they never last long and always in end in hugs. 

What are some skills or talents do you have? Great question. I’ve danced since I was little, so there’s that. I’ve been known to sing a bit in my day. I’m a pretty damn good cook, if I do say so myself. And, you know, there’s the whole wrestling with 180+ pound dogs on the daily. 

Does your parents accept you as you are? They do, and always have. My parents have never been anything other than loving and supportive. My brother and I were blessed to have the most amazing family. My parents wouldn’t dream of not accepting us, for anything. Ever.

Do you have any unusual features or characteristics? I walk with a cane, and I have scars running from my bellybutton to my left hip, as well as running all down my left leg. 

Who is important to you? My family, my students, and my friends. 

Do you have breakfast in morning? Yes, I make the time to have breakfast every morning. It truly is the most important meal of the day, and it sets the precedent for how your body will behave over the course of your waking hours. 

Do you wear glasses or contacts? Glasses on occasion, though not often and certainly not as much as I am supposed to.

Does you have scars or birthmarks? As I said, I have scarring from my bellybutton to my left hip, as well as running down my left leg. 

Are you graceful or clumsy? I would like to believe I am graceful. Though, not so much anymore. 

Does you like having people over? It depends entirely upon the person I am hosting. 

How do you get along with your boss and coworkers? I get along with both my boss and my co-workers well. Teaching at the university level tends to be a bit more of a solitary position, so I do not have much interaction with them. However, when I do, we are friendly and things are pleasant. 

What are some skills or talents do you have? Tactical skills, Combat skills (both with weaponry and in hand-to-hand combat situations), the ability to remain calm under pressure, and good communication ability. 

Does your parents accept you as you are? My parents do not accept anything as it is. I am certainly no exception.

Are you doing enough to make sure that your body is in good health? I am, yes. My career as a Professional Dancer ensures that. 

What do you like most about yourself? What do you hate? I like that I am determined and focused; I don’t hate anything, but I dislike that I can sometimes be too sensitive.

Where do you get motivation from? I get motivation from my determination. From seeing the great dancers and performers who came before me, who make me want to push myself to live up to the titles I’ve earned and reputation I’ve built.

Are you passionate about your career? Or are you just doing it for the money? I am extremely passionate about my career. It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do.

How do you talk to yourself? Do you constantly put yourself down, or do you encourage yourself? I’m probably too hard on myself, and speak too harshly to myself. But, I’ve always been that way.

Are you doing enough to make sure that your body is in good health? I like to think so, yes! My job in itself is really physical, and I try to work out a few times per week outside of that. I enjoy keeping healthy and in shape, but it’s not the most important thing in my life. 

What do you like most about yourself? What do you hate? I like almost everything about myself, but my favorite is probably my sense of humor. I can’t say I hate anything about myself, that’s not very nice. 

Where do you get motivation from? I think I get my motivation from my family, and from my dreams themselves. I want to achieve them, I have them for a reason right?

Are you passionate about your career? Or are you just doing it for the money? I am definitely not doing it for the money. I do love my job, I’m very passionate about it. I wish there was more awareness, that people were a little more understanding, but I wouldn’t trade my job for anything. 

How do you talk to yourself? Do you constantly put yourself down, or do you encourage yourself? I talk to myself nicely, positively, and in an encouraging tone. I try to be as nice to myself as possible.
