AV Receivers vs. Separates: Which One Is Better?
For the mobile DJ who spends more time packing his gear than actually playing on it – having less gear to carry just makes more sense. Some of the gear that will need to be packed will be odd shaped and heavy. Think of things like cabinets, amplifiers, and speakers. You would need a large van with an automatic step in order to haul a rack into your venue, but the odds are that you will carry it in piece by piece. The same things really goes for the smaller and more sensitive pieces of gear that you will have to deal with. It has to be moved without being destroyed at the same time. Many of the mobile guys feel that if they were to resize their load out, they would lose the credibility of being a professional, since they would no longer have separate pieces of their equipment in favor of a singular load out. But truthfully, any time gear is moved around it presents a risk to both the DJ and the venue. Broken gear and injuries are the last thing we need to deal with after a long night behind the decks. http://www.audioholics.com/frequent-questions/receivers-vs-separates
