Chris Harrison Tells All
Because that’s usually what happens, right? This is Chris’ time to shine. The ette is only brought out for 20 mins or so of camera time. The rest of it is Chris trying to suede public opinion about the various contestants. Each question is carefully crafted and prepped well in advance. I’m sure he sits there and takes notes as each guy is eliminated. Then during the season Chris gauges what people are saying about each guy as they are kicked off. He does this by eavesdropping on stay at home housewives at the grocery store or by reading extremely popular and intellectually curious blogs like this one. Chris is going to own this night no matter how many hunky dudes or smokin hot babes are walking around. All bow before the bringer of love, the slayer of wrong reasons.
Is it just me or is ABC really hyping the bachelor in paradise? I hope a few tweaks are made because while the first season was great, there is room for improvement. No more Lacy and Marcus laying in a hammock all day being boring. Maybe it was as simple as a casting thing because the trailer we open with looks fantastic. Does Ashley S revert back to the crazy? Is Ashley I de virginized by some bro? Does JJ fall in love with some random Mexican senor? Less than 2 weeks before we get to find out. Get excited.
Usually when the guys start talking about the experience there is always someone that was left roseless about midway through the show but because he thinks he has great perspective on things he speaks for the group. There was no doubt in anyone’s mind that it would be Tanner this time around. Do you think producers told him to take the lead on this? Producer: “Tanner, make sure you call out Ian for leaving like he did. Also, make sure you talk about how awesome Kaitlyn was even though she had no interest in you.” Tanner’s self righteous bs won’t work on paradise.
Then there was Ian. I think I would have had more respect for Ian if he stood by what he said instead of groveling and getting down on two knees apologizing because he didn’t like poop jokes. I wonder if Ian would find our fantasy suite blog sophisticated enough for his liking. I didn’t go to Princeton or do any modeling (hard to believe) so maybe not, but I never got down on two knees in front of a bunch of dudes looking like I was giving them a metaphorical blow job. That’s probably the kind of joke that Ian wouldn’t appreciate.
How do you know you had a rough experience on a show about dating a woman? When you open the conversation with “I’m a straight man.” Clint seems like a smart guy, even if he can’t figure out which sex he’s into. He smoothed talked his way around the whole him and JJ thing and guided the conversation over to JJ’s corner. JJ is not as smart and said things like being intellectually (bi) curious towards Clint and that their conversations had a lot of meat....Even Tobias thinks he needs to work on phrasing:
It’s time to bring Kaitlyn out. It’s no secret that Kaitlyn was a little controversial throughout the season so far. Because of this ABC needs to make sure that she is portrayed in a good light. What better way to do that than read some means things that some random people have said about her? The crowd gets silent, the men act shocked, standing ovations are had. I don’t recall anything like that happening when Juan Pablo faced controversy. Harrison has slipped in the term double standard a couple of times. I wonder if he knows it goes both ways. After we get done feeling sorry for Kaitlyn it’s time for her to address the people she sent home. I asked this in an earlier post and I’m glad Ben H brought it up. Why did she not tell him about Nick but did tell Shawn. Even though I’m sure she knew this was coming there was a lot of stammering around and deflecting on her part. She finally settled on her answer by saying Shawn valued trust more than anything so she had to tell him. I guess if you don’t tell Kaitlyn you value trust, she assumes you don’t. Or maybe if you don’t ask her everyday if she cheated on you she assumes that it must not be a big deal. Good luck to the “winner” of this season.
We of course got into the whole why did she even let Nick come on the show. I’ve got to hand it to Corey, he called her out and criticized things that she did. You had your typical JJ and Tanner like comments backing her up and saying she was there to find love and could do whatever she wants. It’s not the “(insert upset guy) and Kaitlyn love story”. I know I’d be pissed if I went and she brings on some guy she could have dated off the show at anytime. Maybe JJ enjoyed being an extra on the Kaitlyn tv show this summer, but you have no right to get upset at those that didn’t. Any sort of prior relationship before the show started should not be allowed. Kaitlyn continued to ramble on about whatever. By the end I wanted to throw myself off an Irish cliff just like cupcake thought about doing earlier. This season can’t end soon enough. Bring on paradise.
See you next week
- Nick
