Greta Thunberg
Today I received the Prix Liberté in Normandie, France. Here is a part from my speech:
“Yesterday I spent the day with the D-day veteran Charles Norman Shay at Omaha beach. It was a day I will never forget. Not only because of the unimaginable bravery and sacrifices made by those who gave their lives to defend the freedom and democracy of the world. But also because they managed to do the seemingly impossible possible.
I think the least we can do to honour them is to stop destroying that same world that Charles, Léon and their friends and colleagues fought so hard to save for us.
We owe it them.
We owe it to the future generations.
We owe it to ourselves.”
So honoured and grateful to receive this prize!
