The thick clouds of smoke obstructed his view of the large room he had just walked into. It wasn’t every day that he decided to go to Eden to try and enjoy himself. Some of his male coworkers had goaded him into coming here tonight; something about being a young, successful, attractive doctor and not having a female companion. It was true, he had thrown himself into work and avoided all female companionship. He didn’t think about it until they mocked him.
Music pumped through the speakers as he tried to take it all in. He looked at the stage, observing the woman dancing in next to nothing as he turned away and walked towards the bar. He wasn’t a prude by any means, but it did make him uncomfortable. He didn’t understand why; they were earning a living just like he was. Maybe in was the catholic school in his former years that had that idea ingrained in him. “What can I get you, cutie?” The bartender flirted, trying to increase her tip as much as she could. “Ardbeg on the rocks, with a twist.”
As she made herself busy, he continued to look around, seeing if any of his coworkers had made it before him. The music on the speakers changed as an announcer informed the room that a new dancer would get on stage. He took his card out, informing the bartender she could start a tab and walked around before taking a seat to watch the dancer on the stage. He could feel a presence accompany him and it wasn’t someone he knew. “Yes?” He asked, confused if she was trying to get his attention.
