Careful but swift movements carried Midas through the dense forest of trees, which unfortunately did very little to provide cover from the rain. It was coming down in buckets, the thunder roaring above and the occasional flash of lightning lighting up his surroundings. Night had fallen, making it nearly impossible to see through both the rain and the darkness. He’d learned how to better rely on his hearing after he’d lost vision in his right eye, as he had been caught off guard too many times by enemies that could take advantage of his blind side. In cases like this though, nobody could rely on either one of the senses.
Beside Midas was Dom, who he’d been paired up with for the Royale they’d been thrown into. Ensuring he wasn’t separated from him, luckily, wasn’t a hard task. The way he glowed in the dark so brightly made it easy to keep track of him. On the flip side, it also made him an easy target, which was another reason why Midas wanted to get to cover. Conveniently, after a bit more roaming, they’d stumbled across a house that proved to be empty upon closer inspection. It wasn’t very big and didn’t have a second floor, nor did it have a back door, but at least it made it easier to keep unwanted company out. There was less area to patrol.
Relief washed over Midas after he’d stepped inside and shut the door behind the both of them, his hand lifting to push his soaking wet hair out of his face. “I do hope this bloody storm doesn’t last too long. We’re already behind as it is,” he sighed. It wasn’t that they had messed up along the way, but rather that the area they’d decided to start in was very far from the safe zones. It had forced them to leave early to avoid the electric storm that would be tailing them the whole way there. They’d made some pretty decent headway at least, having hardly stopped during the grueling hours that passed by. Whether or not they’d be able to stay here until the morning, Midas wasn’t sure, but he had a feeling the electric storm would be pushing them out of the house before the sun rose. They could only hope that the weather storm would ease up by then.
Spotting a fireplace across the room, Midas approached it and glanced around the immediate area to spot matches or a lighter to start a fire. Alas, he found nothing. “Dom?” He asked, glancing over his shoulder to look at the prince before he gave a nod of his head towards the fireplace.
