Since the day Midas had made that deal, which resulted in the loss of his daughter, heâd had to face the consequences--and there were many. The eroding of his relationships with his beloved and his son were ones that hit him hard, as no man wanted to feel as if he couldnât protect his family. To have them be scared of him was frustrating and saddening all the same, yet he knew he couldnât blame them for it. After what happened to Marigold, it made perfect sense for them to want to keep their distance.
Some years had passed since that day, and with Lityerses back in his life, Midas was determined to make things right again. Heâd learned how to control his powers, meaning that he could touch people and things without turning them to solid gold. It was a choice now, and in time, he would prove to his son that it wasnât something to be feared, but rather embraced when controlled properly. Not only did it provide wealth, but power came with it too. More than likely, it was something that would have to be taught outside of the Royale, but there was no way in hell that he was about to let his son go into one without him. There was still so much for him to learn, and whether or not he liked it, he would be accompanying him.
Eyes narrowed upon hearing the conditions stated by Lityerses, who was still very much so uncomfortable with the idea of being around him. He was fairly confident that one day heâd earn back his trust. One day, his son would be able to look at him for comfort and safety again, the way he used to when he was very small--before everything happened. âConditions, hm?â He raised a brow questioningly, arms crossing over his chest. âYou cannot get used to making such demands, my son. Not here. You learn--and you learn fast--or you die.â It was as simple as that. He wanted to respect his sons wishes, of course, and he didnât want to make him uncomfortable, but Midas would only allow it to go so far. Very rarely did anyone show mercy, and when arriving at an area that was heavily populated with other contenders, one had to be especially careful and quick to react if they wanted to make it out alive. âI will bring one of my henchmen along to accompany us this time. Just know that in a life or death situation, I will not keep away simply because you donât wish to have me near you. I do not care if you get angry. Your life matters more to me.â
