@shadowsforstars sent: “You’re never leaving me.” (From Phoenix)
Time after time, Felix and Phoenix had broken up. There were many nights, especially when alcohol was involved, that ended with angry words thrown at each other before one of them had enough and ended up storming out. Usually, that one would be Phoenix, but he was also guilty of pushing her away due to his abandonment issues that brought on self destructive behaviors. Both of them had deep rooted issues that ended up clashing, and together they were a perfect recipe for disaster. Despite the obvious toxicity of it, they always made up and tried again. And for a while everything would be fine. They’d put their rose tinted glasses on until the cycle repeated itself and they went through it all over again.
Sitting beside Phoenix, who he’d given one of his sweaters to wear while they were outside his trailer house, he passed the blunt they’d been smoking over to her and fell silent for a moment to process her words. You’re never leaving me. They’d again just made up over a fight they’d recently gotten into, and it had Felix thinking back to when it all seemed so perfect. Every relationship started off that way in the beginning, and even when everything seemed to be falling apart between them, it was something they both so desperately seemed to cling to and not want to let go of. They loved each other, he knew that much. It was just a matter of if they were actually good for each other.
“I’m not leaving you, it’s just...” Felix began with a sigh, pausing to think carefully on his words. He didn’t want to end up saying the wrong thing and setting Phoenix off again when he knew she was in an especially fragile state of mind. The weed would at least help with chilling her out.
“This shit gets fuckin’ old,” he continued, his arm wrapping around Phoenix’s slender waist and pulling her a little closer against his side. “Don’t freak out. Just listen, okay?” There was another brief pause, just to make sure she wasn’t going to jump the gun and freak out. “Can you picture us together five, ten years down the road if this is what keeps happening? The constant back and forth?”
