Advice: Interactive Notebooks

Educhums, assemble! :D

I would love some advice from those of all levels, but especially high school, on interactive notebooks. I am thinking of doing them for my mythology class now that I have an idea of what I want us to cover. However, I have no idea how to go about making them.

1. Are they worth it? 2. How far in advance does planning need to be/how time consuming are they to create? 3. How do the kids react with them? 4. Feasibility for low-income students? 5. How do you go about designing one? 6. Could I create one over winter break or should I just wait til summer? 7. Anything else because I have zero idea what I would be getting myself into.

Momentous Decision

It’s official…next year I’m moving to interactive journals! (cue choir of angels)

It just makes sense what with my love of crafties and foldables, paired with their inability to take notes or organize. I have started working on my Theatre 1 notebook, but really need to put some thought into Tech Theatre 2 since next year I will be teaching THREE sections of it.

In other news: last week I sent out “good behavior” notes and “your child is failing” notes to parents. I have had two kids gush about how happy their parents were to receive something nice about them! Definitely going to do this again earlier in the year, I think so many good kids get lost because they aren’t so bad they are be if noticed…and yet not so stellar that they are Teacher’s Pet. Rewarding good behavior is as important as dragging those failing children kicking and screaming closer to a C or better!
