#internal programmers

i have two questions (not related to each other at all, just saving time)

one: does the programming have to start in childhood or can an adult with (non-ramcoa) DID be programmed later in life? if so, what circumstances would the system have to be in to have that happen (i think i read somewhere a few years ago that it can happen, but only if the child alters are the ones getting programmed, so stuff like that)?

two: can alters create new programmed alters from the inside? like acting in the role of the programmer, setting up outer or inner world trauma and delirium, then when a different part (or the whole?) becomes dissociated, repeating a script over and over (like compulsively reading a book or something), etc until an alter forms from it? would the "programmer" alters have to be themselves programmed?

reading chainless slaves and these questions came up. sorry if they're obvious or ridiculous to the level of insensitivity.

For the ‘best outcome’ programming would start in utero. Adults can be programmed but it is rare for this to occur.

Programmers don’t want new alters created internally by other alters. This can lead to significant issues. Some of the issues would be, not being able to access the system, not knowing what is occurring within the system, and internal barriers (amnesia) should be maintained.

Part of programming is to ensure further divisions don’t occur and there is a part that is able to manage future trauma.

There are internal programmers that are placed in the system to ensure programming maintains stability. Internal programmers are programmed in the roles of the external programmer and are deep in the system.

No worries, these are good questions.

in monarch, can the color drs go by other names (in the same sense as the lion can go by zeke)? what would they be, if they can?

There are two types of programming alters. Internal programmers are modelled after external programmers and will be identified by their Dr. colour. Their real name will be known but as an internal doctor they will not be addressed by their name but by their colour.

The second programming alter can be modelled after a scripted part and have another name.

Internal Programmer Alters-Alters who will reinforce programming by doctors, Mothers of Darkness, abusers, and other leading alters. The internal programmer is formed after a real programmer, and is programmed into an alter of the survivors system. These alters are in charge of the entire system, they make sure things go smoothly, and may inform alters when to front. (Base programming alter)

Programmer Alters- These alters are meant to preserve attachments to the abuser and the cult. This was necessary for them to survive as a child as abusing others meant they weren’t abused further. Trauma bonding is used with programmer alters as becoming like their abuser was one way to ensure their survival and these alters are often introjects.

i was told by someone who i consider to be an unreliable source that there exists parts who are tasked as internal programmers. their jobs are to program other alters. i was also told that it is unlikely that a programmed system will have "npcs" or figures in the innerworld who are not alters but nevertheless exist. have you ever heard of this? i am asking because these things have made me question myself and my experiences for a long time.

NPC: This term means "non playable character" and is often seen in video games. As the name suggests they are not a normal alter but their role is to fill in gaps in the inner-world. Any of the types of alters I have written about above can also be NPCs and solely live in the inner-world. Source

In programmed systems there are internal programmers. They ensure programming continues to run. Some systems have an internal building/structure where parts can be taken if they don’t follow their programming and internal torture to shore up programming occurs.

A part of healing is being able to define your experience, and name it.

I'm reading this book that talks about how there are codes to make internal structures disappear or erase programs. Is this accurate, and can mc survivors find and use these codes?

There are programs that can reconfigure the internal landscapes. These programs are triggered and the code is activated leading to the change in the internal landscape.

As for erasing programs; programs can be re-coded by internal programmers. This is a last resort as it can lead to significant issues within the system and for the programmer/handler to access the system.

As mentioned above internal programmers would know the codes. Outside of them if an alter were to discover a complete code they could use it. But I would recommend against it.

any advice for dealing with an internal programmer, or maybe a similar alter i guess?! i didn't know we even HAD an alter like this until earlier this week when they deliberately triggered multiple alters, including one we didn't know existed, to do a very specific set of tasks which i physically couldn't stop myself from following. it was terrifying and we've been walking on eggshells ever since because we're scared they'll come out again 😭😭😭

When engaging with programmer alters  don’t judged, they don’t need to be told they’re evil, they don’t need to be mistreated and talked down about. They need to hear that they’re good, just as good as any other part, because they served an important function.

Reinforce their strengths and self-sufficiency, re-frame their actions as protective, work on self-abusive acting out, use paradoxical statements to create dissonance between protective goals and abusive means. Reassure them they are safe, they no longer need to perform their job. Ask them what their fears are, what they believe would occur if they did not do their job.
